Sorry, but I will think twice before buying anything else Resmed. While they make excellent products, its kind of like dealing with terrorists. They seem to be as big a bunch of control freaks as Apple Computer. Apple almost crashed once in it's history and probably will bite the dust eventually because of their overly controlling and price fixing attitudes. Resmed too.

There used to be antitrust and restraint of trade laws in the United States of America that had teeth. What ever happened to them and to the folks that enforced them? It seems to me that rather than all of us whining amongst ourselves on here we need to do two or three things: (a) Make ResMed understand that they are hurting their own business by their actions; (b) Create an alternative pathway in the way of an auction site; (c) Complain to our politicians about the lack of restraint of trade laws in a free market economy (supposed).

Simply whining amongst ourselves as we have been doing may catch ResMed's attention in passing but will have little effect I believe.... they are of the belief that ResMed folks will buy ResMed products any way they can and at any price.... and they believe that if they get DME's to push ResMed products they will garner a greater market share. I have seen the very same thing happen at BELL and in the end (it took 20 years) that attitude got the cut down from the lion's share of the market to a mouse's share and it continues to shrink because folks are so dissed at them that they are willing to change to ANYONE else REGARDLESS of cost differentials. It has opened the door to numerous new players in the market and BELL is in trouble and has a disheartened and demoralized workforce BIGTIME.

Time to ask President Obama what ever happened to free trade economy and restraint of trade laws - perhaps while he is on one of those TV talk shows talking himself up and trying to make excuses for all of his 'near hits' and 'misses'. I will respect and support ANY President of the USA - but I will also exercise my right to ask questions and expect answers and action.

Just my humble opinion.

The only way to buy on Craigslist is really 'touchy, feely' to be safe. However, if you pay by PayPal, you can at least dispute for non-delivery of goods and have some measure of protection if you buy a Buick and get a chicken (dead).

Personally, I like the online auction experience, not that it's a lot better than Craigslist (which is a great service BTW) and if I could muster the software I'd donate the computer and bandwidth to let it run online. I just don't have the time and energy for a heavy hands-on experience here.

Of course, there must be other auction sites run by non-ResMed dealers who cannot be beaten up. Pity the stuff has serial numbers on it.

I purchased an almost new S8 Autoset II on Craigslist for $425 from Texas and I am in Tennessee. She even included postage. She had advertised in many cities. Craigslist showed her from my city. I called her anyway, and we had a long chat. I felt comfortable with her, so I took the risk, and it worked out fine. I'm very happy with my purchase. I would recommend caution, though.

Fact is, just like Ebay, Craigslist can go either way. Very good or very bad. I too have had many pleasant experiences buying/selling on Craigslist. Even using the Free section for both giving and getting. But for some reason there are many people who are out to screw people for some reason.

I know many times when I have posted ads I get responses from someone trying to take advantage of the unsuspecting. Luckily, I've learned to spot those pretty well.

Don't forget the Craigslist killer and there is a scam even meeting people in person where they setup a place to meet so they can rob you.

Just apply common sense and if something sounds to good to be true then it most likely is. And use Google to check out things. I have found many times the same scam is listed elsewhere too.
