Woot! AHI below 1!!

Post by Emilia » Mon Sep 06, 2010 9:30 am

To my surprise, my data for last night shows an AHI of 0.80 -- the best yet in my 12 nights on the mask. Speaking of masks, I used the Swift LT for Her again last night since I had such good results the first time I used it the night before. I did awaken a few times during last night to adjust it since I had some wooshing sounds. But once I had it set properly again, I was off to sleep. For such a great night, I don't feel particularly well rested today. A big groggy actually. I am definitely not one who felt great the first week..... and I am well on to my 2nd week as well. Lots of sleep debt to make up, I guess.

During my sleep study, I had only 1 apnea and 77 hypopneas. Since being able to view my detailed data, I notice more apneas but always more hypopneas than apneas. Last night, even with such a low AHI, I had 2 apneas and 6 hypopneas. Improvement, to be sure, but I'll be happy when I can get those to go away, too

You are doing well, data wise!

You will probably not get the events to go away completely, except for the occassional night. You do have sleep apnea after all!

I have had a few 0.0 AHI in the 2 years I have been monitoring my own therapy. I was almost always under AHI 1 with my M Series, which did not report CAs like the System One does. I find now, with the CAs being reported diferently with the System One, I get an AHI almost always below 3 and a few times below 1. I have not had a 0.0 with the System One yet but I am doing well and feeling more rested so I'm happy with these numbers.

Congrats! I'm jealous. Mine is sitting anywhere from 2-4. Hopefully with a little more tweaking I will get there too.
Get to hear success stories

Awesome! I'm jealous, too. My good periods run between 1-2, although I have hit below 1 a few times. Good for you, and so quickly, too!

Well done! But more important than the numbers, do you FEEL any better yet? (If not, you will...)

I was going to mention what Den (Wulfman) said about apneas not going away entirely...but he said it first, so I'll let him take the rap for the "bad" news. lol

I never even thought of zero events as a goal, just watch the leak line and the data and note the AHI is usually between 1-2 and that's when hubby feels his best. Actually the few times he had an AHI of 0.3 he was sleepier the next day.

Thanks everyone! I am very lucky, for sure. I had anticipated problems since so many folks seem to have them, but perhaps the forum tends to provide a place more for those who need help than for those who are doing ok.

Dori.... that is very interesting about your husband feeling more tired when his AHI goes that low. One would think that the closer you get to no events, the better and more energetic you would feel.

So, we will see what tonight brings me tomorrow.....I keep hoping I will wake up and feel refreshed, alert and ready to do things that require energy. I know it will come...

I am happy knowing my body is benefiting from this therapy regardless of the lack of energy. The daily dizziness and wooziness has vanished, and I do have a lot less brain fog. So I am on the right path to better health.
