anyone done this? heating pad under passover

Post by yardbird » Thu Nov 17, 2005 9:48 am

topic say it. I need to warm my passover humidifier until I get a heated one. Has anyone put theirs on a heating pad? Does the heating pad keep up with the evaporative cooling effect and keep the water/air warm?

I understand the risks of water and a heating pad. My passover doesn't leak and I'd probably stick one layer of towel between the 2 (my passover humidifier sits on a towel and my CPAP site on top of the passover).

If anyone has done this, I'd appreciate hearing about it. I see it as a temporary, but necessary solution until I get a HH.

Also... if anyone's used the Respironics H2 I'm looking for comments.

Neat idea. The regular humidifiers don't get that hot anyway.

That is very innovative! I tip my engineering hat in your direction.

I had to look that one up (passover humidifier?). I'm still new to this whole subculture. I thought it had something to do with a jewish holiday, something you pull out of the closet and only use once a year. religiously.

I am enlightened. Thanks.

and enlightenment of others is one of my goals always. hehehe... no... really... I teach meditation classes for beginners.

Actually... maybe this just falls under "necessity is the mother of invention". I know I won't get through another night unless I warm up that humidifier and a heating pad doesn't get hot enough to burn skin so.... it was like... my only choice. So how smart can I be? heheheh

Image for trying a heating pad under the passover humidifier as I used a heating pad under my passover humidifier until I could get the heated humidifier that goes with my Remstar and it worked well. It definitely removed the chill from the humidified air. I had to use one of my older type heating pads though as most of the new ones have latched onto the auto shut-off feature which is good for safety and forgetfulness, but is not a desirable feature in this instance. Naturally, I like the integrated heated humidifier better for looks and convenience. Now if I could try the heated Aussie hose everyone keeps talking about to stop the horrible rainout that is being created for me with the cooler temps in my bedroom I think I would be all set. Image

I used a heating pad once.

That should have been a hint that I didn't need heated water.

I woke up too much heat, and with nose running.

I finally broke down and bought a heated humidifer on EBay.

Used it once.

Woke up with too much heat and nose running.

Since, I have just used the new humidifier with out turning on the heat. Works well as a passover also.

It worked!
I had the heating pad on low... slept till 4:15 when I hadda pee. Getting back to bed air was just a LITTLE cool, so I bumped the heating pad up to Medium and slept though untill alarm got me up at 6:30. Oh wait.... one other wake-up... our dog jumped up on my youngest son's bed and somehow managed to turn his radio on at about 5am. But at least I know I can get through like this until my new equipment arrives. Should be getting the script from my primary doc today (hopefully) and will order everything tonight if that works out..

But..... HOOOO-RAAaah... no more waking up feeling like someone's pushing a sno-cone up my nose!
