What's a good, cheap backup machine?

Post by dans » Fri Sep 03, 2010 8:05 pm

I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my ResMed S9 Auto tomorrow. Right now I'm getting by with a rental REMStar M-Series A-flex, which has been okay except in the past few weeks it has started behaving strangely on power-up. 75% of the time it goes into error mode, and I have to power-cycle it many many times before it starts up without error. Once it's on it's fine so I never power it down now. The REMStar is headed back to the store next week.

The issue with the REMStar has got me thinking. I do not want to go a night without CPAP treatment again. Ever. So this means I should have a backup machine, backup mask, and battery backup able to last a night in the event of power failure. Bonus if the machine is cheap, durable, and travels well. Any suggestions which machine? Plan is to buy one on cpapauction.com.
