Interesting contraption: A poor man's sleep lab. I'll check to seeif my doc or the DME has one. Meanwhile, I'll be getting my very own oximeter.
Does anyone have experience with the correlation between "events" and oximeter readings? ie if you had a few episodes spaced far apart, would you see a corresponding drop (and subsequent recovery) of oxygen levels? If true, one could sleep one night without the XPAP machine and get a handle how they're doing.
Any thoughts?
What are indications that CPAP can be discontinued??

It also offers a lot to the well-heeled. Most importantly, this is a chance to evaluate how you breathe in the comfort and privacy of your own bed. This may be very different than how you breathe in the strange environment of a sleep lab with strangers watching you and listening to you. It also is a time saver by avoiding trips to and overnight stays in sleep labs and avoiding snarly sleep techs.
Home sleep equipment is starting to be widely used since Medicare approved the tests. Within the next three years, it will become used more than sleep labs for diagnosis of SDB.
The next step is to figure out a protocol for the patient to do titrations at home. (cpaptalk members already have their protocol. )

There are many ways that Cpap can be delivered. The main indications of cpap is post extubation of extreme pattern infants or on providing support for infants with mild respiratory distress. If you are discontinuing the cpap, then from my mind i think you first concern with your physicians.
