Can't find a willing supplier for S9 autoset

Post by ktsdad » Mon Aug 23, 2010 5:09 pm

I had an s9 Autoset and was thrilled with it. Then I switched jobs and insurance. My DME provider was out of state and out of network so I had to return the unit. Now I can't find anyone willing to supply the S9. All of the DME's under contract with BCBS say they can't get it. I know what they mean is they can't make any money supplying it (which sucks, but I understand).

It so happens my out of network benefits are the same as in network for CPAP. The trick is insurance requires it to rent up to purchase price. I just want insurance to provide some coverage. Any suggestions on getting one?

I don't know if it will help. Call ResMed and they can tell you providers in your zipcode that they work with. I did that to find one in my area. I don't know about the rental part but you might be able to work something out.
Good Luck,
Shar:)

If you cannot find a local DME provider, there are a few online that will bill insurances, and you might find some who will provide Resmeds. Americare is one, but the picture on their website is a PR.

Can you use Lincare? They have offices all over the country, and it seems they exclusively carry Resmed equipment.

I really like GROVE MEDICAL SUPPLY in Alameda, CA. 510-263-3333. Ask for Danny Nguyen.

Grove Medical bills the S9 autoset at $2,400 w/o humidifier, hoses, and filter. If you have insurance the amount paid can be much less. I would verify the total amount you will have to pay orut of pocket. I suggest you get it in writing.

Thanks for the replies,

Lincare won't deal with me because my script is over one month old and my sleep study is over a year old. I'll keep looking, but I may need a new study as my old remstar unit is now making me feel like I'm suffocating. I've put on 20 lbs and may need a new level.

Why don't you call your doctor's office and explain. They should be willing to give you another script.
