OSA & Brain Damage

Post by janalee » Tue Aug 31, 2010 6:57 am

Maybe this is way out there but I was wondering if anyone had any info regarding OSA causing any sort of brain damage? Has anyone heard about people w/OSA having MRI's that came back with white matter changes? I think I read something about this some place but I can't remember where? Maybe it was here?

Thanks,
Janalee

Here's a couple articles from PubMed...

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18652092
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17557478

Over the years, my MRI showed "microvascular ischemic lesions" that increased in number and size. Haven't had a scan since going on cpap, but I'm guessing their progression has slowed or stopped.
