numbness in fingers
I have been waking up from my sleep with numbess in my fingers. I find it hard to remove my mask when I wake up due to this issue. Is it lack of oxygen? I have a dumb machine and no sleep doc and very soon will be losing my health insurance. What doc, would handle this? A sleep doc? I plan on buying a smart cpap as soon as I can afford it but for now the question bothering me is: Why am I waking up with numbness in my fingers?
Re: numbness in fingers
Same here.
What fingers get numb?
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome the thumb and index get numb. Cubital Tunnel (elbow) is the other 3 esp ring and pinkie.
For me it also happens when I drive (elbows bent on armrests) and sometimes when sitting and watching TV.
When you sleep make sure your hands aren't bend completely forward or backward. And try to keep your arms straight.
This started happening with me when I started CPAP since I try to sleep on my side. It's difficult to keep both arms straight.

Re: numbness in fingers
Very likely carpal tunnel - do you type a lot, use some kind of machinery repetitively, or even use a cane? All of those can set it off, and you can get special fingerless glove type of things (from physiotherapists on MD's orders) to wear overnight to avoid the problem, but to be on the safe side (because the symptom can also go along with things like diabetes) check with your MD and possibly get a referral to a neurologist who'll do an EMG (electromyography) to check for carpal tunnel.
