I am having a lot of trouble with my mask leaking and it is driving me nuts, I do not know much about the varieties of masks. what brands are the best?

Ladybug, finding the right mask is kinda like finding the perfect jeans; what's best for one might very well not be the best for another. Please let us know which mask you're currently using so we can be of more assistance.

MY mask is a full face Flexi by Fisher & Paykel, it is very floppy and flimsy. My Cpap is a S 8 Elite II by ResMed.

Today i am going new Pulmonologist to get my latest results for my last sleep study, he tested me with a Bi Pap. I plan on discussing my mask problems with him. He may order me a whole new machine a mask. I'll let you know what he plans to do with me.

OK. The Dr is ordering a Bi Pap for as well as a type of mask; should be within a week or so.

He told me that I stop breathing 37 times an hour is that a lot? And what does that really mean,what are the side effects of that ? I am still adjusting to all of sleep problem business, there is a lot that I don't know.

then you can also use the search engine here to find some topics that interest you.. The more you read the more you will be successful in your therapy.

Okay for your results, yes thirty seven times an hour is lot, I think over thirty and you are a severe case.

The doctor that ordered you a bipap just made your life a whole lot easier. Be sure to ask for the five to eight page summery of your sleep study.
Every newbie MUST have this to understand their condition and treatment.

A bipap has two different pressures, one to inhale which is the one which will stop your obstructions, like clearing your tongue
away from your throat enough for air to pass, and the exhale, where you want to relax when you breath out.

a regular cpap has one pressure, and you must breath in and out against it.. it can be very hard for some people depending on what pressure you have.

Bless your doctor for getting you a bipap, you will figure out the masks as you try them one by one.. this can take some
time..

If you dont HAVE to wear a full face mask, the nose pillow masks are very easy and comfy to wear, but mind you, it takes time to
get used to any mask or machine..

My favorite mask right now is the swift fx nasal pillow, if you click on my little icon in my profile it will take you to a larger photo of
what it looks like..

Anyway, it sounds like you have a fabulous doctor, and congratulations on getting a bipap. Someday I hope to have one too .

Unfortunately living requires breathing! The side effects of not breathing are serious!
