PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question - & Answered
PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question - & Answered
My original PR S1 data card has been corrupted, either by my sleep lab or by my sleep pulmo when they did a data download.
So I bought a 2 gig at Batteries Plus today. And now I am wondering. It seems to me I read (in regards to the Resmed S9 data card) that you could use a larger capacity data card. I assume that holds true for the PR S1 data card as well?
And what is the advantage to doing so? Using a larger gig data card, that is.

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
I think it would be overkill to buy anything larger. Each night with my PR1 Pro is about 100-200KB. It would take a few years to fill 2 GB.
Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
There is very little used on one night. A 2 gig card will last a long long time. You can use a larger one but, as andyw715 said, very very little space is used per night. Mine showed 100% space left after a lot of use. I wondered what was wrong because I had data every day but then it showed a little less.
I'm not sure what it says now- haven't checked for several months.

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
Thank you. I was just wondering if there was any advantage or not. I really appreciate the replies, guys.
And now, another question. Can I just stick in in the PR S1 and expect it to do its job or is there some formatting or something that I need to do??

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
Slinky, I bought one card, I tried it in all the ways I was able and never worked.
I think you need a fast card, mine should be a standard and as I tell after formating in all the possible ways availables and doing all kind of tryes it never worked that's why I think my card is not the fast type. That's all what I can say. I wish you success, and let us know if that works.

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
Be careful when you get above 2 GB on the SD cards. Above 2 GB the cards are SDHC. Many of the applications will not read the HC cards. There is a warning about this on some of the card packages when yoiu buy them. I ran into that when I tried to move information from my desktop to my laptop with a SD card. I don't know about the PR1 machines but you might check before you go to the larger card.

I got a cheapo sandisk 2GB. Stuck it in and it worked. Existing data didn't transfer but that's ok. This card I bought because i had to send the original one to the DME for insurance compliance. Im sure I'll get it back but wanted to view the data.
Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
Well the data card I bought at Batteries Plus was a 2 gig MaxFlash Mirco SD. It was rather interesting that it comes in a nice case for storing it AND it had a smaller card that slides into the original PR S1 size data card.
I did a download this morning to my original PR S1 data card. And tonight I tucked the BP data card into the PR S1 and upped my IPAP and EPAP by 1 cm each as instructed by my sleep pulmo. It was interesting as when I first stuck the BP data card in and the usual admonition "data download, do not remove card" or similar was displayed on the PR S1's LCD screen and that message stayed there quite a while. Just as I was "losing faith", it disappeared and the usual split screen appeared.
Only to disappear and the "data download, do not remove card" message appeared again. Didn't stay quite as long and the regular split screen came up again.
I think it did it a 3rd time, I've forgotten already. I walked away to fill the humidifier tank and when I got back and put the tank in place the LCD screen was back to its regular split screen and staying that way.
We'll see what tomorrow morning brings for data - or lack of it.

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question
Well, good news!!! I started a new patient in EncorePro 2.2.14.0 just in case. I chose both Return Card to Same Patient and Leave Data On Card. And did the download.
VOILA! Data all the way back to when I first started using this PR SystemOne BPAP Auto w/Bi-Flex!!! Detailed data for the past 7 days.
I paid $14.99 plus Michigan's 6% sales tax for this 2 gig MaxFlash Mirco SD at Batteries Plus. I probably could have gotten a 2 gig card somewhere else cheaper. I had planned to try Best Buy. But the cheapest place around here for batteries is usually Batteries Plus and I needed two batteries for two items at home and I HATE to shop so when I saw they had the card I needed I bought it. The two batteries I needed were considerably less. Just under $4 total but it was just so much easier to stop at one place just about guaranteed to have the ones I need. It was a bonus for me that they had a 2 gig card I could use.

Re: PR S1 Data Card Replacment Question - & Answered
Thanks so much Slinky!
That is really good to know! When and if I need a new card, I know to buy a 2 gig one (because of what people said here about possible problems with bigger ones) and that it will work!
Good information to have!
