I am writing this now at 3 am because I couldn't sleep... dear partner's snoring was driving me insane (again). I finally made some headway with him after a year of "nagging", I managed to slap the pulseox on him a few nights ago. (luckily no severe desats but certainly non-rem desats, I think). That made him think. Next step is to see the ENT, he is getting his insurance sorted out now so hopefully that will happen next.

My partner is very stubborn, very critical, won't take anybody's word for anything... but I suspect that if his DOCTOR told him he HAD to take such a test, he would do it. He questions everything from everyone, but not doctors. So weird. He doesn't ask ANY questions at the doctor's office, just does what they tell him to. My other male family members are like that too. Is this a man thing or what?? So maybe get the doctor, the authority figure as it were, to lay it on him thick!!

oh wow, if you get a doctor all over him, maybe no more snoring? wouldnt that be a dream? and you both would get some good sleep!

Its nice to know that the home tests just might do the trick with these stubborn guys, and yes, I think its a man thing, (sorry guys, I know you
are NOT all this way)

good luck! hopefully we can compare notes when there is no more snoring going on, well maybe the dogs and cats!

http://www.instantdiagnostic.com/ids/default.aspx This company makes it quick and easy for a home study. Even your family doc can write a prescription for this. Your family doc can also handle the therapy part as well. Your hubby may like the simple, "no big deal" approach. Good Luck!

I wish we had this information years ago when our Dr first brought up the possiblity of OSA. There was NO WAY my husband was going to stay anywhere overnight and the subject was dropped until 3 cardiac surgeries later and a lot of fussing and feuding! .

some severe apnea sufferers have no oxygen loss when asleep, so its not a reliable indicator
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

I don't normally nag my husband but when it came to having a sleep study I nagged non stop. I asked him one day if I had ever nagged him about anything else. He said no. I said this was the only thing that I would not tolerate. I said I intended to spend the rest of my life with him but is he deliberately starved his brain of oxygen to the point where he didn't even know who I was he would go to the nursing home. He has now had his sleep study. His apnea was severe. Now he is waiting for his equipment. I hate to nag but I love him too much to allow him to destroy his own life.
