Res Med S(
Res Med S(
I found out I had sleep apnea in July. About a week ago I received an S9 with a heated humidifier. Two question... if it is heated why does it blow cool air. I warm the water before starting the Auto Pap and it is cool by morning. Second from reading the form I would like to look at my results from my S9. Where can I get Res Scan 7.11? Thanks

Re: Res Med S(
Unless the humidifier is set (and I'm not suggesting that it's even possible - don't use that machine) to stay warm all night, the water will cool off quickly, as it would under any circumstances. I think though that if it were able to be kept warm, it would evaporate too soon for you. I imagine the warming is just to let you fall asleep, at which time you're not likely going to care much unless it's frosty. Have you looked online (e.g. Cpap.com) for the software?

Hey Duckie
You may want to look into the Climaline hose for your humidifier it is a nice featured (Option) of the S9 bundle..

Re: Res Med S(
The purpose of any heated humifier is NOT to heat the air flowDuckie wrote:S9 with a heated humidifier... if it is heated why does it blow cool air.
Its purpose is to heat the water in the humidifier chamber to provide a range of humification levels in the air flow.
The degree of heating of the water to provide humification will depend on a range of factors, including the amibient temperature and humidity. The water in the chamber does not need to be noticeably above ambient temperature to accelerate release of water molecules into the air flow.
If you want heated air, you need to look at getting the Climateline hose for the S9.
Cheers,
Bill
Re: Res Med S(
I slept last night with the hose in bed. The air was warmer. I will look into the climate control tubing.

Re: Res Med S9
Hi,
My DME from Apria called. He is sending me the climateline hose so I can control the temperate of the air. He is also calling the representative to the S9 to see if there is a heater problem. It sounds like the water should be warm in the morning since it is a heated humidifier. Does any one else have the heater for the S9 and the water is cold in the morning?

Re: Res Med S(
That's the same answer I received from Apria here in NC. They called me back a few days later after the complaint stating tehre there's no problem. I think it's a problem but not enough people have complained about it. I've actually set it on manual and the highest temp and still wake up with a dry mouth and cold water. I also have the software which shows no leaks..I know it's not working but getting someone convinced to take a look at it is a different story. Apria changed out the humidifier once but that didn't resolve the issue. Wish the software could show you the times that the humidifier actually kicked in or the sensor in the hose to show moisture levels.

I'm not directly familiar with them, but here is a meter to show power consumption. Check the rate without the humidifier then check it with. The difference should be dramatic (assuming the humidity in your home is low enough to require the heater to kick in).jlgwinn wrote:Wish the software could show you the times that the humidifier actually kicked in or the sensor in the hose to show moisture levels.

I'm so going to order this when I get home! Nice idea...It's several videos on Youtube about it. It's pretty nice item for $19 bucks...

Re: Res Med S9
I use the humidifier with the S9. When the blue cooled off light goes on and, I remove the water container, it is definitely cool if not cold, more so than ambient temperature and some air blowing across the top would cause. I always figured that the unit was doing some thermoelectric cooling in order to allow the water container to be removed without burning fingers. Could be wrong and, I wouldn't advise it but, I think that if you tried to remove the water container before the cooling cycle was done, the water and bottom of container would be found to be at least warm if not hot.Duckie wrote:Hi,

Re: Res Med S9
The temperature of the water in the chamber, or the heating plate itself, will never get hot enough to "burn" anything.yawnny wrote:in order to allow the water container to be removed without burning fingers.

Re: Res Med S(
I take the water out before the cool down time and it is cold! The heater is cold and the machine is still cooling it down. I know my heater works because it heats the water during warm up. Something is turning it off during the night. I am begining to read that the S9 biggest problem is their humidifier. It likes to be a cold humidifier and not hot.
