S8 Elite II - Data help

Post by Random » Fri Aug 20, 2010 7:08 pm

Hello Everyone,

I recently got a used S8 Elite II due to all the recommendations here on the forums that I have a data capable machine. I also got a copy of the ResScan 3.11 software. However, I'm now told that I need to buy a $30 data card and a $75 card reader. Are there any alternative methods of getting detailed data on this machine? I did not have to pay much for the S8 thanks to a kind member here on the forums but it is still more than I could afford so I do not think I would be able to shell out another $105 + shipping and import duties for the reader and card.

I have searched the forums and read about the ACR38 but have heard it has issues.

Any advice or additional information would be appreciated. I have been very frustrated with my OSA over the past six months with no improvements.

Thank you!

P.S I Live in Canada so this equipment is even more expensive here.

Random, in what part of the world do you live? I thought that information may help in case someone on the forum has what you're looking for. I just sent you a PM (private message) with some information too.

Random,

The display on your machine is going to give you summary data. I am not sure how it works on your machine, but on my machine, I can reset it each day. That way, the summary data reflects just one night rather than being an average. You probably want to read it in the afternoon or the evening, and then reset it. That will give you your AHI, it might give the type of events, and it will give a leak number. This is pretty helpful, especially if you track it for a week or 10 days. The card reader and software will give you detail level data and show plots for each night. That is really, really useful when you have an issue. Once you solve your issues, checking the numbers on the screen once every week or 10 days might be enough.

It is a real bummer that the card and card reader cost so much. I hear that the card reader has been discontinued and is getting pretty hard to find. If you want one, you might have to jump on the first one that you find.

Thanks for the replies. I live in Canada and will add that to my post. I would appreciate it if anyone who has this reader and card available would let me know.

I found an option on the cpap screen for smartdata or something similar but there is no option to turn this on
