Software for my machine? Help

Post by animallover13 » Mon Aug 16, 2010 7:40 am

Hi,

I am less than a month newbie on CPap and would like to be proactive in my treatment, since I don''t have the best machine it seems for data, I was wondering if the EncoreViewer 2.0 really is worth the $99.00? Right now on my machine I can only see 7day and 30 day results.

What do you think?

Thank you !

You have a Remstar System One Pro, which is fully data capable. If you spend the $99 for the software, you will not be sorry.

With the software, you can see your data every night. Not only will you see a more accurate leak rate and AHI (more accurate than the LCD screen), you will also see all the events you had during the night and what type of event (apnea, hypopnea, central apnea, flow limitation, RERA, VS).

With the Pro you will get all that info using the software. You will be able to see what is happening and when and have the info to make some changes in your settings that may improve your therapy.

You will be monitoring and in charge of your own cpap therapy daily.

Yeah, I'm not particularly fond on PR's way of reporting data via the LCD screen. In fact, I am NOT a fan of PR's LCD screen w/no backlight. Duh. THAT was a massive dose of stupidity on their part.

However, yeah, that PR S1 Pro is fully data capable and EncoreViewer 2 would be of value to you if you really are interested in accessing your own data yourself. The data card is the same type used by digital cameras so its not even a hassle to keep an extra data card on hand. Like all brands and models of xPAP there are features we'd like to add, features we'd prefer they didn't have, etc. BUT the IMPORTANT thing is that they DO provide GOOD therapy. AND the Pro is fully data capable.

Thank you for your input! Yes having all that information would be very handy....too bad it doesn't come with the machine...it really should.
My pressure setting can only be changed by the Dr right?

Thank you

My understanding is that it is your machine you can do what ever you want to with it. I have not found the cpap police at my door yet. It is a good idea to have the software to read the data so you have something to base the changes on. You will find that most of us here have found that if you take charge of your own therapy even if it means changing pressures, etc. you will do much better.

Right, lots of us here change our own pressure, with the help of the data we get from the software. It certainly is possible for you to change the pressure yourself on your machine. You would be better not doing it until you have software and have some data that may suggest a pressure change.

Your DME, with the okay from your doctor, can also change your pressure for you. The DME should have software to read your data card and should send such data to the doctor so that the doctor can tell the DME to change the pressure.

The problem is that many DMEs don't want to be bothered with you after they have the money for your machine and may not be willing to look at your data except for maybe every 3 months or so. A lot fo bad sleep can take palce in 3 months time!
