fisher & paykell

Post by Sudsy » Tue Aug 10, 2010 10:10 am

Hello

I was on straight cpap with pressure set at 10 for a few years and it seems that was not working so I am on a loaner machine now so that they can get a reading on what my pressure should be set at now.

At the end of the month they will read the data and give me my results. They said that the new machine will be a fisher& paykell machine.

I would like your views on what fisher machine would be good ?

Thank You
Sudsy

In my opinion F & P build very good machines but very few of them are data capable... the most important feature that you will need to know your progress.

There are many good manufacturers of machines and each has their advantages. Your supplier has suggested F & P because it is an advantage to them... not you. If you are able you should locate 3 to 6 suppliers and find out what they offer. They are not all the same.

You need to do your research here at CPAPtalk.com and google some Online dealers including CPAP.com to find the differences.

Remember data-capable... not just compliance model is a necessity...
Other features... humidifier... quietness... easy read-outs etc... are creature comforts that make CPAP liveable and patients are more compliant. You need to prioritize your own needs.

RestedGal has a list of fully data capable CPAPs and APAPs. Send her a PM and ask if she would post it for you.

F & P 244 and 254 are both date capable. F & P make excellent machines. Coming soon is the Icon which is similar to the
Resmed S9.

Thanks, LSAT. I am so glad that they have given the Icon a name!! Remembering PAP model names is one heck of a whole lot easier than remembering model numbers!!!!

The Fisher&Paykel Representative told me the ICON comes out in September. This machine seems to be like Resmed's S9, but has some things like an MP3 player and clock! http://www.fphcare.com/osa/cpap-solutio ... premo.html

Anyway, F&P makes good machines. I use one at home.

Hello

Thanks for the information. The suppler said that i could only get a Fisher& Paykell straight cpap not fully data one as my Health coverage only pays for straight cpap machines.

I will have to buy one on my own so that I can get a fully data one. It looks like prices on these ones are not to bad. Here in Canada I think they are alot more.

I like my 254. The Sense Awake feature is very nice. I wish it had exhale pressure reduction but I have been doing better than I expected with that. I don't have any complaints at all. It was $450. well spent.

sudsy...The F & P model 244 IS a straight CPAP machine that provides data. Insist on that one if you are offered a F & P machine.
