Hi folks. It seems like my CPAP's humidifier isn't depleting properly. Normally, I have it filled between 50-75% capacity, and set the CPAP to level 4 (of 5). And yet, the tank only goes down by 1/3rd or so after 6 hours of use. It seems to me that at level 4 humidity, the tank should deplete more completely.
Any thoughts? Anything I should check on my machine? The filters seem fine, and the connections on the tubes are all good. The leak rate--as reported by the machine--is always around 0%. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Re: Humidifier not depleting?
The PR System One has a special humidifier designed to adjust to the humidity in the air. Do you live in a humid area? Have you had some hot nights lately? The humidifier on this machine will adjust for that and, at times, use much less water.
We are having a very hot and humid summer where I live and my System One is hardly using any water at all. I do use it in pass over mode at this time of year but still the water level hardly moves.
I may not be explaining this properly. If you to the Philips Respironics website I believe there is an explanation about their new humidifier system with this new machine.

Re: Humidifier not depleting?
Hi there,
I have the same machine and because it adjusts the humidity based on the room temperature it doesn't use much water, even in Colorado's dry climate. We have central air and on 3, I only have to refill every 3 nights.
I think yours is fine. Now with the new S9, (I just got and have used for 2 nights) it loses 2/3 of the water with a climateline hose if the humidifier is set on 3, every night I use it.

Re: Humidifier not depleting?
Any humidifier, with or without special features, will use less water if the room air is already humid. The air can only hold so much moisture at any given temperature. If there's less moisture in the air coming into the humidifier it will take up more water - it's it's already got a lot of moisture in it it will pick up less.
I've noticed a huge difference between summer and winter and also a difference between different homes (which I think has more to do with the heating cooling system than the geographical location). In winter my humidifer (plain old Remstar Plus M at a pressure of 14) often goes totally dry before the night is out. In summer a half a tank was more typical. This summer, in a new location I'm barely using any water at all.
So if the amount of humidity feels comfortable I'd assume that it's working perfectly.

Re: Humidifier not depleting?
My PR S1 humidifier is set on 2 and I only have to refill my tank once a week.
The real test is comfort. I know it's working, because at any other setting (up or down) I'm uncomfortable.

Re: Humidifier not depleting?
I have mine set at 2 (and who knows what that really means?) and the amount of water it goes through varies every day. It really does depend on the humidity already in the air.
