Yep that was me the first time around before I actually got my cpap. Then when I got it and had an issue with my mask I came back because I knew I could find some answers. I might have stuck around and learned something if it had been a more social thread.

Are we still On or Off Topic? I'm getting confused!

Please PM your chicken soup recipe to me.

Thanks
Here is Dori's Chicken Soup recipe, which was passed down from her mother: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=50636&p=468126&hilit=#p468126. Yum!

I'm fairly new and learning all the time. But sometimes questions and answers are on topics that I'm too new to understand or just not ready to deal with, and some of the more detailed topics I've just ignored. But I've received LOTS and LOTS of common sense, friendly advice from people on this forum just the way it is. And I've laughed along with many of you that have gotten OT. Please don't de-humanize it. I vote against "just the facts, ma'am." Remember, an unwelcome topic is just a click away.

I think I joined before my sleep study.. just so I could find out what was going to happen. I was pretty darn sure I didnt have OSA, I was positive!
I did want to know how this weird night was going to go for me..
As I recall I landed here, and saw the new users icon, and hopped on to that.. I thought I was going to get some help when I got to that point.

However, if people are arent willing to at least have the curiosity to TRY to find out something, its likely they didnt have their heart in it, or werent ready to work on it. Let's face it, even if youre scared, tired, upset, frustrated when you arrive here, you have to be motivated to find the information you need. We all know sometimes it takes a bit a work to get there. I have seen some people show up, post a topic for help, and either converse a short time, or not at all, then disappear. They werent ready..

I think the people who come here and see whatever is on the front page, and dont like it, or dont understand it.. arent ready either.
Perhaps they are not the types of critical thinkers and information hounds that have come accustomed to searching for answers here, or anywhere.

my suggestions:
Perhaps make the new users icon the most prominent thing on the front page.. and maybe change the cpap wiki icon name.. When I came here
I had no idea what the heck a wiki was??? I had to google the term wiki. Im wondering if a lot of newbies dont understand what that means either,
and its one of the most important information vaults up there. As far as the topics, believe me, if youre HUNGRY for answers you will do whatever
it takes, one click, two clicks, twenty clicks or more..

They should also feel free to stick around here and express their opinions to their heart's content...

Absolutely.
Yup.
And I never said they shouldn't express their opinions.

I was simply pointing out that a forum already exists that appears to be better suited to their "sensibilities" rather than trying to remake this one.

Moderator? Me? No thanks. I prefer to keep my current position of Immoderator.

And lay off the damn chicken soup recipes.

Very kind words, Mars. Thanks. You are a forgiving man.

The "philosophy," though, was only my attempt to summarize what I've seen in action from the approach of the long-time posters at this forum.

Your fellow poster and friend,

Hi Jeff

You know, you have a unique way with words and philosophical explanations.

But I think that this time you have excelled yourself.

Between us we have invented a new quotation that will reverberate down the centuries, and may even change the world.

This is the saying we have created -

The friend of my enemy is my friend too

I don't have that recipe because my Mom could never tell me the exact measurements she used! I have to go now before Roster/Rooster "really" gets mad!

I know exactly what you mean! I heard about a thread that some nut job started to find a boyfriend for another forum member. 68 pages of drivel! In the end, the member was still without boyfriend, and had alternately crushed on and been crushed by the OP, who all the while was utterly clueless as to what she'd done to deserve either!

Then, there was a thread started about quotes. It's already on page 4, and not a one of the quotes has to do with apnea, CPAP, hoses, or even a good blow job joke.

Is it possible she wouldn't tell because she uses Manischevitz Matzo Balls?! (shhhh...)
