Yep that was me the first time around before I actually got my cpap. Then when I got it and had an issue with my mask I came back because I knew I could find some answers. I might have stuck around and learned something if it had been a more social thread.rested gal wrote: Well, I suspect there have also been plenty of new people who have stumbled upon a very much on-topic heavy technical type of thread that happened to be at the top the day they arrived, looked at it, and simply left.

I did want to know how this weird night was going to go for me..
As I recall I landed here, and saw the new users icon, and hopped on to that.. I thought I was going to get some help when I got to that point.
However, if people are arent willing to at least have the curiosity to TRY to find out something, its likely they didnt have their heart in it, or werent ready to work on it. Let's face it, even if youre scared, tired, upset, frustrated when you arrive here, you have to be motivated to find the information you need. We all know sometimes it takes a bit a work to get there. I have seen some people show up, post a topic for help, and either converse a short time, or not at all, then disappear. They werent ready..
I think the people who come here and see whatever is on the front page, and dont like it, or dont understand it.. arent ready either.
Perhaps they are not the types of critical thinkers and information hounds that have come accustomed to searching for
answers here, or anywhere.
Interesting point of view.
my suggestions:
Perhaps make the new users icon the most prominent thing on the front page.. and maybe change the cpap wiki icon name.. When I came here
I had no idea what the heck a wiki was??? I had to google the term wiki. Im wondering if a lot of newbies dont understand what that means either,
and its one of the most important information vaults up there. As far as the topics, believe me, if youre HUNGRY for answers you will do whatever
it takes, one click, two clicks, twenty clicks or more..
And I never said they shouldn't express their opinions.ozij wrote:Yup.-SWS wrote:They should also feel free to stick around here and express their opinions to their heart's content...Amigo wrote:Oh, and by the way, for those of you who want categorization so badly, and moderators who yield an iron fist, please do feel free to move HERE.
Absolutely.
Very kind words, Mars. Thanks. You are a forgiving man.mars wrote: Jeff says it very well, and I go along with his philosophy about the Forum.
I don't have that recipe because my Mom could never tell me the exact measurements she used! I have to go now before Roster/Rooster "really" gets mad!jdm2857 wrote:... but what we really (no, not that really) want is Dori's secret matzoh ball recipe.

I know exactly what you mean! I heard about a thread that some nut job started to find a boyfriend for another forum member. 68 pages of drivel! In the end, the member was still without boyfriend, and had alternately crushed on and been crushed by the OP, who all the while was utterly clueless as to what she'd done to deserve either!Hawthorne wrote:The ones that seem to have raised this became so dominant and grew to pages upon pages on the forum and cpap/sleep apnea issues, which the board is about, got pushed farther and farther down even onto page 2 or 3 even where they may never be noticed again.
