S9 and Use Of Standard Size Hose

Post by mml4 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:14 am

I have a Res Med S9 with an H5i Humidifier. It came with a Slim Line Hose and in the set up program there are options for both Standard and Slim Line. The machine came set up with the SlimLine hose option chosen.
The hose split and I got another hose which unfortunately is standard. I called the Health Care Co. which provided the machine to confirm the need to change the setting to standard. The phone attendant said not to change the setting. I really don't have confidence in what this person told me because it defies common sense.
Should I change the hose setting or does it not make a difference?
Thanks for your answers,
Marc

Most heath care companies assume that patients are too incompetent to tie their own shoelaces. So they tell you to not change anything.

Your machine needs to know which hose is attached because it compensates for pressure loss in the hose, at that loss is different for the different hoses. So, ignore the advice and change the setting.

What is the advantage of the slimline hose over the standard hose?

The hose is covered by a 30 day warranty.

I guess I don't need to ever worry about getting one, then. By the time I get all of my accoutrements onto the tube, it's a big freakin' python, anyway.

And it breaks quicker, requiring replacement leading to more profit. Jim
