One Night Doesn't Make a Trend

Post by megawill » Mon Jul 26, 2010 7:17 am

...but I'm celebrating last night. 1 event over 8 hours for an AHI of .125.

I started straight CPAP on June 1st. I've struggled with finding a a comfortable mask / sleep position. My quattro bothers the bridge of my nose..I struggle with leaks on my hybrid...so i go back and forth a couple of nights on the quattro until my nose bridge is sore and then a switch to the hybrid.

A couple of recent changes: my numbers haven't been too bad, usually in the 1.5 to low 2s. I few weeks ago my numbers doubled for a few nights. I changed out the cushion on my quattro and that brought them back down. But still was seeing more central apneas on most nights then obstructive events. So a few nights ago I reduced my EPR from 3.0 to 2.0 and than to 1.0...and last night started taking melatonin. Hopefully, that is the magic combination for me and the 'trend' holds.

Congrats, sounds very promising

I never could get the Quattro to work for me... if you have a chance, you might try some other FFMs out there. After failed attempts with the Quattro, the UMFF, and the Liberty, I'm pretty happy with my ComfortGel Full. It's all about finding a match between our facial structures and the right mask.

I believe pad-a-cheek also has a nose bridge cover for the Quattro, I wonder if that would help you. A larger size might actually do the trick as well! From what I've read here, it's not uncommon that they size you incorrectly.

Keep us posted on the trend!
