howdy

Post by shimari » Mon Nov 07, 2005 7:35 pm

Just had a sleep study.

wow. that is to say, WOW, HOLY COW MAN !!!
I only slept 5 hours in the lab, BUT it was the best night sleep I can remember for many years. FULL OF ENERGY all day.

well rats, looks like I will have to wait another 2-3 weeks to get all set up and checked out. <*pout*>

I can't believe I put up with OSA for so many years.
Actually didn't "put up with it", just had no clue I HAD it.

I feel enlightened. Why is this such a well-kept secret ?
I can see by reading back some of the posts here, I have lots to learn about osa, and cpap, and all the other strange terminology.

It appears that CPAP is not just a machine, it's a whole subculture.
And some interesting (and funny) people here. That helps!
Glad I found it.

Cordially,

Shimari

Yep, that's us --- subcultured.

That sure is a good sign that you felt refreshed after your sleep study. Not everyone feels that way, the study being quite the experience and all. If I had known what I was in for, I might not have shown up for the study! I felt like, if I were on television hooked up like that, I'd scare every terrorist away. Hmmm. Maybe they should try that!!! They wouldn't need Homeland Security (or as I call it, "Homeland Insecurity" for grins). Anyhow, welcome to the club. It's not exactly a club one would willingly sign up for, but the club can be a friendly, albeit sometimes dysfunctional, bunch. Like a family! So, welcome, cousin!

Welcome! Your observations are right on! Stay with us here and ask anything. I can tell your attitude will be good going in and your results depend so much on that. There are wonderful people on this board that will help you in any way. Cpap brings us all together in a family of sorts.

Shimari,
Welcome. Glad to hear of your great study--or rather great day after .

Read lots of the posts here and you will get quite the education. Wish I had known about this forum before I got my first setup. You can learn what machines and masks have been tried and what different folks like and dislike about them.

Will see you around.

I agree with LDuyer, I envy you for feeling good after the sleep study. I too did not find that to be the most comfortable experience. I have been on the hose for about a month and feel quite lucky to have realized the problem so early on, glad you found out about it too. The people here are great and very quick to give you and answers and encouragement you may need.

I went through the same thing as you, I was diagnosed but had to wait a month to be seen again to actually get treatment. Very frustrating process, but it helps once you get everything right. For me I am still on the hunt for a proper working mask, hopefully the UPS man will answer my aggravated tossing prayers today.
