Last night was the maiden voyage for me and the S9. With all the research I did on here and the internet I thought I was ready for everything.
Got masked up, turned on the machine and it kept wanting to go into the cool down mode and the ramp icon would disappear from the right side icons.
Not finding a troubleshooting or FAQ's guide in my paperwork anywhere got me a little frustrated.
I searched the forums here but wasnt able to find anything similar, anyone have an idea what I was doing wrong?
S9 goes straight into cool down mode?
S9 goes straight into cool down mode?

Re: S9 goes straight into cool down mode?
You didn't mention anything about timing. I've noticed my S9 Elite switching from warm-up to cool-down if I don't start the ramp within a certain time period-not sure-maybe 10-15mins. after beginning warm-up. I just hold down on the right-hand start button and it goes back to warm-up. Now if it's shutting down while you are ramping up; time to check manual or DME. Good luck with your machine. I really like mine.

Re: S9 goes straight into cool down mode?
Do you have your mask type selected as full face and your smart-start set to OFF? If you have smart start on, it won't work correctly with a full face mask--may detect that you have taken the mask off even though it is on. If you have the correct mask type of full face selected, this feature is automatically disabled, but if you have it on another mask type, smart-start could be enabled and not work correctly in this situation. Just a hunch based on the behavior you are describing.

Re: S9 goes straight into cool down mode?
I did mess with the ramp time after I got home. The DME had it set for 20 minutes and since I can usually fall asleep quicker I dialed it down to 5.
He also suggested I keep the mask setting on nasal although I am using the Quattro. He said it would help the auto start and wouldnt effect the other
operations.
When the cool down icon was on the screen there was some AHI numbers diplaying in the area of the status bar for the cool down. I thought that was odd
since the machine hasnt been used yet and I havent gotten any software to use either.

Bad advice... and very likely what is going wrong. I think what is happening is that your machine is shutting off because it can't tell you have the mask on due to the anti-asphyxiation valve on full face masks--that is the reason ResMed disabled auto start/stop when using full face masks. The mask setting will not affect machine operation, but it does affect the leak data--the expected ventilation rate on a full face mask is higher so your leak data will be wrong if you don't have the right mask type selected.Scotty415 wrote:He also suggested I keep the mask setting on nasal although I am using the Quattro. Re: S9 goes straight into cool down mode?
Got the settings changed for the mask, hopefully I can keep it on all night without it cutting out on me this time.
There was a little water in the hose due to over filling the humidifier so hopefully those were the only things causing
the error last night.
I talked to the DME tonight after I got home and of course everything was working fine while I had him on the phone
so hopefully it will be a better night and I wont wake up with the mask in my hand 3 times tonight....
