Questions About LED Data On Cpap

Post by dog_tired1 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 5:49 pm

Hi,
I am pretty much a newbie and have been using Cpap for about a month now. Long story short, my insurance co. wouldn't pay for my cpap and I had to buy one. My local DME sold me a used S8 EscapeII Cpap with Hi4 humidifier and Respironics EasyLife mask for $500. I didn't realize until I found this forum, that I really got screwed, because they sold me a common non-data machine that they wanted to get rid of .

I recently won a brand new Fisher & Paykel SleepStyle 244 on cpapauction for an awesome price that you can get data from. Someone was nice enough to give me a link to download the Maximizer Software. I have an old laptop with Windows XP and was having problems accessing the software (something to do with a thing called an SQL Server and .NET Framework:V 2.0.50727). I get an error message saying I need the .NET Framework V2.0.50727 to open the software. I went on to microsoft.com and downloaded an SQL Server and .NET Framework:V2.0.570727, but it is still saying there are errors and I need the NETFramework V2.0.50727 software and Windows couldn't open the software, insert the Maximizer Disk again (which I don't have) or something like that . I completely have no idea what I am doing. I am so used to things being plug and play.

I am so frustrated, because I know very little about computers and cannot get access to my sleep data. I do not want to deal with my DME.

My machine has an LED that Displays the Humidity Setting, AHI's for each treatment session, System Leaks, Total Run Hours, and Average Usuage Hours per night. Is this good enough, or do I really need to detailed sleep data? So far my AHI's are averaging about 2 per 8 hour sleep session, Leaks are about 50-54 (my manual says below 60 is acceptable). I was prescribed 7 cm of pressure with my other machine, but changed it to 9 cm and felt way better. I put the pressure of the new F&P SleepStyle Machine at 9cm too. I have been using the new F&P machine for about a week and a half now. I feel a little more tired than when I was using the other machine (S8 EscapeII). Should I raise the pressure on my new F&P to 10cm or should I leave it?

Thanks for any advice. I am so confused and hope you all don't think I am a pain in the rear end, lol.

Best wishes,
Dee

If you post with a header briefly describing your data access issue, you may get some help.

But, you do have enough data to get by. Knowing your AHI and leak rate is helpful. Better than a person I heard about (on another forum) who had a fully data capable machine for 4 years, but had no idea how to access the data. When she finally figured it out, her average AHI was 17. It was pretty important to know that, and who knows how long it had been going on like that!

So, yes, you can make do. It won't be enough if you start to have problems and want to know why, but it is enough to get good, basic therapy.

Here is a link to the .NET 2.0 redistributable you need:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... b15c5e04f5

The file you download should be called 'dotnetfx.exe'. Can you write down the specific error message, particularly in reference to 'SQL' and post the error on here exactly as its worded? The only thing I can think of is that the Fisher & Paykel Performance Maximizer software wants you to install SQL Server Express edition (which is free), but that seems unlikely to me. Try the .NET redistributable link above, then try install Performance Maximizer... if you still get an error, write it down exactly and post it here.

Here is a link to SQL Server 2005 express edition if that is in fact what it wants:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Also, when everything is all said & done, I would run Windows Update as there are security updates for .NET that you should install. Here are instructions on using Windows Update:

davecpap,
I finally figured out how to download the SQL Server (whatever that is, lol). It downloaded fine and I followed the directions that was on the Performance Maximizer help document. The Performance Maximizer gave me a username (FPHUSER) and a password (1234) and I entered it into the fields when I downloded the software exactly as the directions told me. When I went to log onto the Performance Maximizer program, it is not accepting the password that F&P gave me. It keeps saying: Authentication Failure and gives me the choice whether to retry (yes or no). I do not know why this password is not going through? I keep retrying and after 3 times they say I am out of tries. I am using Mozilla Firefox as my browser default. Could that be a reason for the difficulty logging in? If yes, how do I change it to make Internet Explorer my default browser?

I feel so stupid, because I am so bad with computers and have no idea what the heck I am doing. I have been trying to get this hooked up for a few hours and am so frustrated. I am getting ready to give up and just give the smart stick to my DME to check the data. I don't really want to be at their mercy and feel hopeless. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks so much in advance for your knowledge.

P.S. if you know what I am doing wrong, please explain it in "Computer For Dummies" style, lol

Best wishes,
Dee

davecpap,
I also ran a Windows Update and got security updates for .NET.

There were a lot of updates needed for that. I also figured out how to change my browser to Internet Explorer by default and ran an update to the latest version. I am still not able to log in. It is saying Authentication Failure and gives me the option to retry the password. I wonder why it is not accepting the user name and password that F&P gave me to use (Username:FPUSER Password:1234). Grrrrr..... I am ready to drop kick my computer, lol

Take care,
Dee

I don't have a Fisher & Paykel Sleepstyle 244 machine or the Performance Maximizer software, so I'm starting to run out of ideas.

I would start a new thread with a topic like "Need help installing Fisher & Paykel Performance Maximizer software" to get the folks who have that machine involved, and maybe provide a link to this thread so they know what you've already tried. The topic of this thread "Questions About LED Data On Cpap" isn't going to get much involvement.
