How many are using the PapCap?

Post by bilnap » Sun Jul 18, 2010 4:09 pm

How many users are using the PapCap, chin strap? I have the ResMed chinstrap and my mouth still comes open. Does the PapCap really keep the mouth closed.
Thank you for you help and comments.

you can force your mouth open with any chinstrap, but when you are relaxed and sleeping the Papcap does work and it is more flexable and comfortable that most other chinstraps.

For me, the PapCap did not work well but everyone is different. It was not comfortable for me and made sleep difficult so I gave up on it.

BUT- everyone is different.

I have been using the Pap Cap for a couple of months and find that it stays in place better than the first chinstrap I got from my DME. It is a little warm on hot summer nights, but it is still a very light material, so not too bad. Whether a chinstrap is enough for you is something that differs between people--it is enough for me, though I did not have a big issue with mouth breathing--just sometimes. That said, it was more than I had thought because my leak data is clearly a lot better than before I started using the Pap Cap.

I have been using the Papcap for some time now. I do have to add a little padding under chin to keep red marks at bay. It does a wonderful job of keeping my trap closed though.

I have tried a few strap's and the PapCap is doing a GREAT Job Took a few trials an getting the tension right. . . To tight and it was less effective - - The feature you can adjust the angle / positioning BEATS the plain Chin strap that is only a BIG RUBBERBAND.

I have played with the straps and eliminated the head gear that came with the mask which makes sleeping very comfortable.

I'm ALSO a GREAT believer in the Regenesis™ Pillow.

Think everybody should check out the site -- NoBody has talked about CPAP Desensitization -BUT- that is what I believe has made my ACCEPTANCE of CPAP Treatment over the past 3+ years. easier "Thanks Bret"

I have a soft cap and I ruined it by clipping the straps on it. The straps were too wide for my mask. They are made of elastic, but did not know that until I cut them. I was able to fix them so they would work on my mask, but the problem I have is that the mask would be too loose and I got leaks. I don't need a chin strap as I'm not a mouth breather and my trap stays shut during the night. I'm wondering about the papcap 4 the newer model if that will work wiht the mask with out the chin strap???? Well I'll be getting pillows soon any ways. The soft cap is comfortable at night and that is good, but the straps are nothing but elastic and can't tighten the mask because they stretch too much. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay
