Will this Chin Strap work?

Post by jabman » Thu Jul 15, 2010 11:48 am

Ok, I am on the end of my 2 week of using a Cpap and things are going good. for the past couple of nights I have had a dry mouth and my wife reports a weird sound coming out of my mouth so i assume that i have developed mouth breathing. I want to try a chin strap and was at Wal-Mart yesterday looking in the sports section at chin straps, they are about half the price they are on cpap.com but I am wondering if anyone would think that they would work the same or if anyone has tried them before?

Haven't received mine yet, its in the mail. I ordered the $17.95 one from CPAP.com. In the meantime I'm using home made chin up strips to keep my big mouth shut.....maybe I should use them during the day too...I am way to opinionated lol. I use 2 inch micropore paper tape, cut in the shape of a "U", works too.
Good luck
Nan
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I use the cheap-o elastic strap the cpap.com sells. Works perfectly.

If only I didn't look so awkward wearing it....or the nasal pillows...or having the hose draped across my chest....

How is it that Walmart has chin straps that would work for sleep apnea? I would think the only ones they would have would connect to a football helmet. Curious

You can waste your money on those things but if you want to do it right get a PapCap.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

This happens, I think, because our bodies become more relaxed when we sleep with CPAP...we realize sleeping is safe now....and the extra relaxation causes the mouth to pop open. Happened to me too! I could manage without a chinstrap in the very beginning....and then had to have one. I'm a PapCap fan too. Works great!

The papcap does work for me when I use my nasal mask, but, it's much easier to use a FF mask.

I looked at the Pictures on your link and I liked the first one so I cut a length of ACE bandage to fit my head, Like your pictuer, and use that for a chin strap.
I have had a 0.0L/m every day now sence i started using it, about 5 days I think.

I needed to make a chin strap before I went to bed last night, so I pulled a hose cover out of the drawer, took the velcro off and placed it
under my chin, and tied it in a bow on top of my head. I think it helped a lot for a makeshift chin strap. I should probably get a papcap soon.
I got my hose cover on ebay and it is very wide and plush and it was really quite comfy and sorta cute!
Mine is sherbert colored, but it kind of looked like this.. so in a pinch, if you are traveling, and forgot your papcap or chin strap, you can use
a hose cover!
