s9 problem with humidity help
Re: s9 problem with humidity help
I don't believe I'm a mouth breather (hubby says no) and I used his Respironics machine several times before I got the S9 and dry mouth never occurred. My numbers are really good, very low leakage when I use the Swift fx and low AHi so not losing pressure. Will try preheating the water tonight and see if that makes any difference.
Re: s9 problem with humidity help
If you are not breathing or leaking through your mouth, then no air from the CPAP is flowing through your mouth. If no air from the CPAP is flowing through your mouth, then the CPAP humidifier, no matter how much humidity it is putting out, is not going to be able to deliver humidity to your mouth.

It does matter the temperature you set the S9 to... warming the humidifier is how it works to increase the humidity... and lower temperatures hold less moisture and so it will humidify less. With a setting of 70, it is not surprising that the S9 would not heat the water at all and therefore the humidifier is essentially operating as a pass-over humidifier.jojojta wrote: I didn't want warm air so not sure if that matters or not. If room temp is 75-80 and I set the machine thermostate to 70 doesn't seem like it would need to warm up as the water should be at room temp. I almost wish I didn't have this machine.
You can change the S9 to Manual climate control instead of auto and then you get a separate setting for the temperature and the humidifier. However, if you set your temperature low and humidity high, I think it will not really keep the air that low of a temp as it will need to heat the water to humidify the air... it will simply not heat your hose at all. Basically, you have a choice between cool air or humidified air.

Re: s9 problem with humidity help
try turning the humidity control in the clinical menu to manual. Then put the level up to 6 and the temperature up to 86 degrees. This will give you the maximum humidity possible on the machine.
