hybrid liberty mask with resmed s9 apap

Has anyone who lives in a very dry climate where the humidity is 10% or lower ever relocated to a humid climate like Florida or Hawaii?

If keeping moisture in the airway is so important, I am thinking about relocating the family to all places Florida.

On the manual setting I can't seem to find the right balance with my humidity setting/temp settings on top of terrible allergies this year. Right now the humidity setting is 5.5 and the temp setting is 83. Putting a hypoallergenic air filter in the room is even worse. I wind up waking up to an empty humidifier chamber sort of like breathing in vinegar from the left over calcium deposits in the chamber. The air-filter took out what little moisture was in the room to begin with.

Sorry to ramble, but as you all know that is what crappy nights of sleep strung together do to you.

Any wisdom would be nice. thank you.

A couple of question that may allow us to help you a bit

Do you have a humidistat so you can see your current room humidity?

Have you consider getting a room humidifier?

I live in souther Georgia, summer is on and our average out side humidity is above 80%, with the Airconditioner on my in room humidity is around 50% most days, so my humidifier uses only a little water through the night. If you can raise your in room above 20% you will propably feel a bit better and a room humidifier is a lot cheaper than moving to Florida in the hart of hurricane season. I too live in the desert for many years so I understand you plight.

Sleep well
Chris

Thank you for the suggestion. It''s amazing what a little oxygen deprivation does to you. I will hook up a humidifier tonight or most likely this afternoon when I take a nap.

I was born and raised in Florida and you may find that your allergies are much worse there.

I use a room humidifier in the bedroom. I run it for a couple hours before bedtime so the room is comfortable for breathing. Then I read or watch t.v. in bed before hooking up to cpap while the humid air in the room helps soothe my sinuses.

The humidifier in the room was a big help! Down to 2.6 last night. DR. CG at Stanford wants me below 2.0 to avoid MMA. My initial AHI was 150. Oxygen is good. There is nothing like doing high altitude training your whole life. Maybe I am ready for Everest.

Anybody ever use an external humidifier with an air filter at the same time? Does that make sense?

I am a native Floridian as well. I am going back to have an allergy test for the local vegetation before I reenter the banana republic. My fingers are crossed because I was negative to Bermuda grass. My theory is I think the humidity keeps the pollen on the ground and not airborne like everything in Cali. Air-conditioner with HEPA filters for the inside and no carpet.

Glad to hear the humidifier helped.

There's no conflict between the humidifier and filter; one is adding water vapor to the air; the other is filtering particles out.
