When I started with the old REMStar "twin towers", I don't think humidifiers were available. When I got my first APAP 5 years ago, I opted for no humidifer. So, I went over 10 years without a humidifer. I was having a lot of sinus problems, and my ENT guy strongly urged me to get a humidifier. I did. I also had sinus surgery - which is not fun. I don't use a humidifier when I travel, but otherwise, I do now.

After about 15 months using one on passover mode, I just disconnected it altogether last week. I don't really notice any difference, except that I no longer need to worry about running out of water in the tank. (I'm surprised to read some say they don't fill the tank--when mine empties, I get a strong burning smell which has happened twice in the middle of the night).

Although I do have a humidifier I haven't used it. I have been on Cpap since 06/05.

i'm in Aridzona and have to use the humidifier as its so dry. Even with using the H4i humidifier I had to have my nose cauterized as it became dry and i suffered 4-6 nose bleeds every day.

Spend some time to figure out your humidity in your bedroom and see if you feel to add any.

Just stopped using my humidifier, set at 1 1/2. Suddenly, my numbers are stellar. Can't quite figure it out, as I've normally been at an AHI of 4 or 5 no matter what I tried. Last night, 1.1, averaging 2.2 for the past couple of weeks.

I only use mine when it is very cold in my room during the winter and even then I put it on the lowest setting of heat. I can't stand the hot air blowing on me for very long. I also have used it when I am having sinus problems. The warmth seems to make it feel better.

I use mine in the winter only. When ambient humidity rises in the spring I put the humidifier on the shelf. When needed, the humidifier is important for me to avoid sinus headaches and dried out and cracking nasal passages. However, use of the humidifier when not required leads to blocked solid nasal congestion.

Yes, thats one of my 3 remaining fuzzies. At one time I had 19 of the little furbabies. What an exciting mess that was! My babies have free roam of the den that we converted for them so it was always a hectic experience! They are so loving and I miss the fuzzy bundle of 19.

I was told to use it, my pressures are high 24/20, in order not to dry out my nose. I live in a humid area, but when I went south to Mobile, AL, i had to turn it way down, was getting condensation in my mask and hose.
The humidty in my bedroom is 35%. We don't have the AC turned on right now and the outside temp is 95, inside it's 87.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if I'm currently in China, where it's verrrrrryyy hot and humid, do I need to use my ResMed humidifier? I'm currently using a ResMed S9 Elite with Humidifier, so just wondering if the humidifier part is necessary given that I'm in such a humid place. Also, my CPAP setting is currently pretty mild, set at 7.0 cm.

Thanks for all your help and advice in advance!

check the humidity, if more than 50%, separate out the humidfier and just use the CPAP ro set the humidifer at 0 (off)

Thanks for the advice! I'll try sleeping without the humidifier and see how I feel. Thanks again!

Doesn't the air get really dry without it?

I used it at first but I hate all that hot moist air. It makes me claustrophobic and I don't wake up with drymouth. I have an oxygen problem because I have central sa, and humid air carries less oxygen (because it is carrying water vapor). I also think that if you don't clean it out thorougly it can breed all kinds of things that cause congestion.
