For the first time since being on my CPAP, I woke up several times having to burp with some pain and the feeling of excess air in my stomach. This has never happened before and I have never suffered from heartburn or GERD in the past, nor treated for this type of condition. The only thing I can attribute it to is the CPAP, but why now, all of a sudden? Seems each night brings on a new problem lately.
CPAP Causing Excess Air In Stomach?

There are so many things that affect this therapy and just the time that you think you have finally adjusted to it something new comes to frustrate you! The discomfort and bloating from excess air is a problem that we all go through. At first, for me, it was a pretty regular occurence. But now I only have problems every now and then. It was worse for me when I was on straight CPAP but got better when the doctor put me on auto. Just remind yourself that this too will pass. (no pun intended )

Snoozie,
Try elevating you head a little and see if that helps. As DD said, an auto-pap might also help in that for many it keeps the average pressure lower over the course of the night... less air....less air in your stomach.

How would the auto-pap make a difference? Just curious. Also, how would I go about getting a brand new machine changed based on just a gas problem? They were going to do a trial of bi-pap if the cpap did not work, would this maybe help with the problem? Maybe if I insist they read my smart card do you think they might come up with something?
Will also try elevating my pillow, but don't know how it will work with partial stomach sleeping. Maybe I will try buying one of those wedges if it doesn't go away.
Sorry for all the questions. I have only been on this for a month now and thought things were going fairly well till last night.
