I have used a heated humidifier ever since I got my CPAP machine in August. I thought about trying the machine without the humidifier, but never did. About two weeks ago, quite a bit of water got in the humidifier. I was advised to not use the humidifier for a few days to let it dry out.
I have been really surprised at how much BETTER I am sleeping WITHOUT the humidifier. I have never liked warm air blowing at me, but I had heard too many stories about nasal passages being too dry without the hh.
A few days after I got my CPAP, I developed pneumonia. The doctors don't think the CPAP had anything to do with it, but I'm convinced it did. I had a lot of moisture and I also had rainout one night and woke up with water in my nose.
I am sleeping so much better without the humidifier. Also, the inside of my nose had been getting very sore. It is much better now without the hh.
I'm very glad I was forced to try sleeping without it. I slept for 9 1/2 hours last night and was dreaming when the phone woke me up. I think now I will be able to fully make up the sleep deficit I had built up.
I just wanted to let people know my experience in case they had similar concerns.

[quote="CPAPLady56"]My pressure is 8 with a C-flex of 4. My first hh setting was 4, then 3, then 1. I still have my hose hooked up to the humidifier. I just don't turn the heat on. I'm going to take it off the humidifier completely and just hook straight into the machine.

Got moi confused.
What do you mean by "a lot of water got into the humidifier"?
I am straining my brain to try to figure this out.
Course, I have a bit of Rum/coke,
And who advised you to let it dry out?? That also gets moi confused.

Sorry for the long delay in replying.
Yes, my C-Flex is currently set on 4, although I don't use it anymore.
As for the water, it evidently leaked out of my humidifier chamber into the base. They advised me to let the base dry out, before I tried using it again. But I love it so much without the humidifier that even though I'm going to make sure it works, I'm not going to sleep with it on anymore. It's hard to believe how much better I sleep without it.

Drat Michelle, isn't that the way it always happens, just when things are nice.
