Backpacking

Post by cbob » Thu Jun 17, 2010 11:59 am

Hi:

I'm looking for a portable, battery operated, light-weight CPAP machine I can take backpacking to 11,000 ft. I'll have to use a small solar array to charge the batteries, but I can handle that part of it. What I need is the machine that can handle the altitude. I've looked at the Everest models on line, but they are only good to 9000 ft. or so. Too bad because otherwise they fit my weight and portability requirements. Any suggestions? Can the Everest model be modified to work at 11,000 ft.?

did you check out this model advertised 11000ft

The Everest 2 is a full featured CPAP system – including a wide pressure range of 4-20CM H2O, automatic altitude adjustment up to 11000 feet,

looks like it may fit the bill

Good luck

KC5cychris:

Went to the web site you posted but couldn't find any info on an Everest 2 machine.

It's a bit wired that Everest 3 only support altitude under ft 8000, according to their brochure.

Regarding the same question (I need travel to cities over ft12000 ), I talked with guys from ResMed. Both of us think it's may works to set a higher pressure, even the auto-altitude limitation is exceeded.
