I will post this one now, because this is one I am really wondering about, and have an appoint about in a couple of weeks..

Has anyone else have Thyroiditis, or trouble with their thyroid? My test just came back inconclusive, so I get to, go to a specialist for more testing. From the research I have done, I have found that thyroiditis can increase apneas. Also for years, I have had the dx of CFS and FM. Just a question I thought I would through out and see if anyone else had thyroid problems related to their OSA.

I also have COPD but am not one to have a lot of phlegm. I've been Dx'd w/mild OSA and was started on CPAP w/some improvement. I was switched to bi-level w/more improvement.
But then .... I started going downhill again. Despite almost no phlegm and not being able to produce sputum for testing I found I could no longer wear my loose turtle neck shirts. I've worn turtlenecks all my life. Virtually live in them and blue jeans.
I am 5'3", weigh 115 lbs, have had normal range TSH, Free T4 and Free T3, Thyroid Antibodies, Ferritin, B-12 and Folate and 25-hydroxyvitamin D lab tests. Soft tissue CT scan of the neck revealed some cysts on one lobe of my thyroid, doppler US of the neck revealed 2 small cysts on the other lobe as well. Guided US FNA biopsies determined all were benign. None were considered large enough to consider surgery.
We can't see to find THE right IPAP and EPAP pressure settings for me anymore. COPD? Thyroid? Something else?

Re: Thyroiditis, OSA, CFS, FM
I have been dx with CFS and FM as well as GERD and a few others that I see the thyroid mimics. My doctor was locking at all aspects of life why I was so tired no matter how much sleep I got. During this time I was dx'd with mild OSA (well actually it was a re-dx). I had 1 blood test about 2 weeks to a month ago that showed low TSH, but normal T3 and T4. Which prompted my doctor to send me for an Thyroid Scan and Uptake. The blood test that I had right before the test showed normal levels on all. Which made me glad she sent me for the test instead of waiting because the scan came back inconclusive, and prompted more test.Slinky wrote:I also have COPD but am not one to have a lot of phlegm. I am still trying to figure out my sleep study, I got the dictated version of it only. It doesn't show how many apneas I had an hour but I am only on a pressure of 7cm. Unfortunately, in a way, this was a "reconfirmation" instead of a clean test. I have had 3 sleep studies, the first the sleep therapist told me I didn't need the CPAP, but was called in about a week later for the evaluation of the CPAP. The 3rd study was an apnea/ narcolepsy test (the 24 hour one) both came back negative. So I was hoping for a clean test to tell me if I really had sleep apnea.
So I might ask for another test if something is up with my thyroid, and they get that under control.
Due to lack of sleep I lost concentration so I hope I covered everything I was going to cover, if no t I will continue to post.
