Time change for my CPAP?

Post by listless » Sun Oct 30, 2005 4:45 pm

Okay, it's the end of daylight savings time which has left me wondering:

What's the deal with the internal clocks on these cpap machines? They must have them. I'm sure there's a battery in there somewhere? Do I need to reset mine? How did it get set in the first place. When will I need a battery? What time is it?

Today my smartcard data tells me I got 8 hrs. 45 mins. of sleep. I think it was 7 hrs. 45 mins. (Does that sound right? Hmmm. if I subtract one hour, no if I spring forward, fall back there will be an extra, no less, dark sooner, heck I give up! )

listless,

You probably couldn't change the time in the CPAP if you wanted to.....it's set at the factory to GMT. Then, when you download the data, it takes the time from your computer. I looked at mine, too....to see what it had done, but then got confused as to what time I REALLY went to bed as I had already changed our clocks.....and finally said to heck with it...... If it counted an extra hour, take it.....it'll add into your cumulative total of sleep hours. That's what I'm doing.

Best wishes,

Den

I was wondering the same thing myself yesterday. I noticed that I was also showing one hour less sleep than I actually got. Can't afford to lose sleep like that!

On the ResMed gear (S7 Elite, Spirit & S8) you can change the date/time but as these beasts all have powerful computers in them I am sure they know

One machine I pulled apart recently seemed to have a state of the art 386 Intel equiv chip in it - I can still recall when we used 386 chips to support 16 async users on a server.

The AUTOs all seem to have complete computers & operating systems. Many CPAP machines do too.

So it seems many newer machines will adjust themselves re d/s

Cheers
