altitude vs pressure

Post by alageezer » Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:59 am

I've been having trouble the last few days with waking up with a sore diaphram. My pressure is set at 16, but we have been setting about 4000ft higher elevation than home. Should I decrease the pressure a little because of the change in elevation, and if so, how much?

The specs for the S8 Elite II (at cpap.com) say :

Operating Altitude Sea level to 8500Ft (2591 m)

You didn't say what your home altitude is, but it auto adjusts for altitude. Are you using EPR--exhale relief? Perhaps that would help with the exhale.

Home altitude, southern Alabama, runs about 500ft. We've been setting at sisters house at about 4500 for the last ten days or so. My EPR is set at 3, as high as it goes.

FYI, didn't get any help from here, so I went ahead and reduced my pressure last night by 10%, from 16 down to 14.4. Woke up this morning feeling fine, no aches, and the numbers come up in line with weekly and monthly averages. We'll be at this altitude for another week, so I'm going to leave it at 14.4 and see what happens.
