confused re: PR1 report missing data

Post by bailachel » Thu Jun 03, 2010 8:46 am

My mother and I both have PR1 CPAPs. I regularly download my data and have no problems getting the detail and waveform reports. I recently visited my mother and told her I would download her data and generate reports for her. She mails her card to the DME and they (eventually) mail it back to her but so far, despite multiple requests, she has never gotten any reports. So.....

I downloaded her data and ran it through the software when I got home. It appears to contain only compliance data and at the top of the report where mine says "Device: REMstar Auto" hers says "Device: REMstar Plus". Now, I have seen her CPAP machine with my own eyes and it is not a Plus. It is a PR1. I was wondering if this could mean that they returned someone else's card to her, but even so, wouldn't the data generated after the card was returned be from the PR1?

She believes that she is not having any leak problems, but has been taking naps again. Her Patterns of Use report shows that most nights her therapy time is less than the blower time by several hours and she is not taking her mask off. It would be really good if we could get some data showing her AHI etc.

I have looked at all of the settings in the EP2 software and her set up as a "patient" is the same as mine. Any ideas anyone? Do you think the data is there, but I need to change a setting? is it possible that her PR1 generates only compliance data?

A PR1 can be a "Plus", a "Pro", an "Auto" or a "Bi-pap".

If she has the Philips Respironics PR System One "PLUS" she has no data exceot compliance.

That's probably why they have never mailed back a report. All they care about is compliance data for the Insurance company.

I'm afraid Hawthorne is right. She likely just has the extremely basic no reporting, no data machine. My first machine was non-data, and I remember how cheated I felt when I finally discovered that there were machines that could tell me how my treatment was going.

Thanks for your responses.

Hmmm... ok. I thought that when I looked up the Plus on their website it looked completely different. Must have been an old model. Her DME is Walgreens, I bet they won't switch it. but it won't hurt to ask. I think it is still being rented. Darn. I wish I didn't live so far away.

Thanks for your responses.

All of Respironics machines - the older "classic" ones, the M Series ones and the new PR System One ones, have the 4 types of machine namely - Plus (just compliance data), Pro (detailed data but set cpap pressure), Auto (detailed data and ability to set a pressure range), Bipap (detailed data [on the Pro and Auto but not the Plus] and a separate inhalation and exhalation pressure). With the Respironics Bipap, they also come in Plus, Pro and Auto.

It does get confusing!!!!!

If your mom hasn't had her machine too long and Walgreens won't switch her, try another DME. If there's enough time left on the capped rental to make it worth their while, another DME might take over, give her a data capable machine, and take the monthly rental fees.

However, if she's had it quite a while, I'm afraid it will be difficult to get a switch because anew DME company will get very few months' worth of rental income and will take on being on the hook for maintenance for a few years.

She has only had it a couple of months. We will try to get it swapped. Thanks everyone for the info!
