New S9 high leak rates?

Post by Officebound » Thu Jun 03, 2010 4:52 pm

I am using my new S9 autoset. My median leak rates are well below 25 L/min, but my 95th percentile and max rates are around 40 L/min. My mask is Mirage Quattro FF. My AHI is 2.4 . Do I need to worry about the high leak rates? I can't seem to adjust my mask in any way to get the numbers lower. Thoughts? Thanks.

Those leak rates are high... too high.
IMO... I only worry about 95 percentile...
median is not enough therapy and
Max is just during adjustments of temporary periods of strange behaviour (rolling over etc)

I'm not sure how long you've been struggling with leaks...
but perhaps you have the wrong size... or adjustments with straps
or there are some other padding products that cut leaks.

There are others here that use the Quattro and can help with specifics.

Thanks for the info, i will keep digging for info. I was under the impression that the Mirage Quattro had a flow rate of around 30 L/min. Does my machine compensate for that before giving the high flow rate readings. I guess what I am asking...do i subtract the mask flow rate from the leak rate numbers that I have to get the true leak rates? If that is the case, my numbers would be great. I can't imagine getting a 0 leak rate like I have read that others have had.

ResMed is different than Respironics... Your S9 machine already deducts the Flow Rate for your mask.
Make sure that you have the mask choice at FF on your S9...
Also I'd double check the Flow Rate/Pressure for the Quattro... you don't need to calculate with ResMed
but 30 l/min is for a pressure of about 7cm with Mirage Quattro.

Your ideal goal is 95 percentile 0.0

Sorry about the bad news

Only if you have set the mask type into the S9 using the appropiate setting menu item.....

Chers,
