RG mentioned that WillS's problem with Aura was rain-out. Think I recall that you don't use heated settings on your humidifier, so that would limiit the amount of condensation and possibility of rain-out.Honestly, I can't see how this wouldn't work for anyone, but then you can ask people like WillSucceed who didn't like the Aura at all.
Personally, I think it would be worth buying a hose heater to get rid of rain-out if that were the only issue with an otherwise excellent interface.

(Who is on 3rd interface since starting on 7/1/2005. However, the longer I use the Swift, the more comfortable it seems.)

Professor,
Laughter and keeping a sense of humour I believe is what saves you in this life we live. And to be able to have some fun in our situation is always a great thing. Glad to have shared a laugh with you, too. Here's to many more.
Gracie,
I started using my hh the other night just to see how it would work with the Aura and I have it set at 1. So far, absolutely no condensation, athought 1 is the lowest you can set it at. I just don't need to turn it up yet. Maybe when we turn the heat on in the house and I start to dry up like an old prune, I might have to try making it a little higher. I was going to invest in the Aussie hose if I continued to use it with my Activa, but didn't end up using the Activa, either.
You, like me, have been through enough masks. I am on #5 since the beginning of June. I really think the Swift is a great mask. It has a thing or two that makes it imperfect, but perfect is really a unrealistic goal to set with CPAP masks. But it's top of the line, IMHO.

I have been laying kind of low on this one, but I have to tell you, last night was the second "perfect" night in one week with the Aura. Once again, zero events, no apnea/hypopnea, two flow limitations and two snores the whole night.
I did, however, find some condensation in my pillows that were annoying during the night. Don't know if I accidentally turned up my heat on the hh or it's not good when it comes to condensation, as WillSucceed has mentioned. I'm thinking if I didn't turn it up, I might just take the hh off again. Don't need water in the nares while I'm sleeping. Or maybe if I feel I really need it this winter, will order the Aussie hose.
Just giving an update. Still in Aura fascination.

Sorry I'm late, but here's my 2 cents worth on the Aura. It's only worth about that much (my reflection, not the Aura) because this is my second night on CPAP. First night I used the Activa and I had the same problem with it that Lori did--just couldn't get it to inflate properly. Last night I used the Aura and boy do I feel good this morning! I am a stomach sleeper and it worked great for me. Used it straight out of the box (bag actually). My only problem was that it felt strange exhaling into and would occasionally leak on exhale. When I cozied a pillow right up underneath it, it was not a problem. Think I'll set my CFlex on 3 tonight and see how it does (currently on 2). Also, woke up with alligator skin at my hairline but whatever. The thing felt great! Can't really say objectively how the thing worked (Encore software on backorder so haven't received it yet) but I can't wait to compare the numbers against the Activa. All I know is I feel fantasic today!

Well, have to admit I am as well. I recently took a trip for ten days to NC and I packed the Swift as It is smaller and hard to break. While I have been a loyal user of the Swift, I had been sleeping with the Aura the past month. Well, when I got back and used my Aura again, I noticed I had less awakenings and I felt much morfe comfortable. So I am not a convert. The most important thing is to get it right by adjusting it until it is. Took me three weekd to get it right but now it is. I really think that most people who don't like it give up too fast. I also don't use any additional straps or panty hose or anything, you don't have to if you bend the wire just right that is in each pillow.

Hey, R&R. I think that was a typo or I'm missing something (wouldn't be the first or last time, as we all know).rock and roll wrote:Well, have to admit I am as well.
So I am not a convert.
I took both my Swift and my Aura away with me, but found just the opposite, believe it or not. I had nothing but leaks the first night of my vacation with the Aura (think it could be the couple of drinks I had???), so I used the Swift the second night. Now that I'm home, just the opposite. Back to Aura and doing fine.
I'm really happy you ended up liking it so much. And I agree that most people may give up too fast that don't end up using it. But we know what works for one doesn't always work for another.

Cool, SirSnorzALot! I cozy up a pantyhose leg strap to cradle the nasal pillows nicely. Same thing, in effect, that you're doing. When I cozied a pillow right up underneath it, it was not a problem.
I think I've read where some people put a piece of cloth under any nubby area that leaves little marks.woke up with alligator skin at my hairline but whatever.
Glad the Aura is working so well for you, SirSnorz. It's my favorite of all. That smushy soft nasal pillows assembly is sooooo nice for sleeping in any position.

Re: drinks
They didn't have to be "big" since I virtually stopped drinking when I had untreated OSA because one drink would just knock me out. I mean, get me to "sleep" now! I couldn't handle alcohol because I was so tired to begin with, and that was all I needed to start and keep me yawning away till I went to sleep.Rod wrote:LoRi : Just how big were those drinks?
So, now that I am energetic again and able to have a drink or two, my body is not as accustomed as it used to be to drinking. Two is enough usually, or maybe three, sometimes, in rare cases, four, or...
