I took my S8 in to be repaired last month because I couldn't get it to shut off. Well, after 4 weeks of not hearing anything from my DME, I called today. She said it was "unrepairable, full of dirt and pet hair". I have to get a new CPAP machine now, only after 2 1/2 years. I change the filter monthly, is there a better filter, or something else I should be doing? My bedroom has a window that faces the street and last summer there was road construction going on in front of the house. Maybe that was the problem? But the filters didn't look any different when I changed them. I also have a Jack Russell Terrier and I keep the CPAP up off the floor too.
Thanks for any suggestions

Switch to the hypoallergenic filters, they filter much more stuff.
Even HEPA filters can't filter everything however, but 2.5 years
to failure due to dust accumulation seems scary.
Sounds like a good reason for everyone to use the better filters.
What I want is a pre-filter that is true hepa,
they make them that go on the hose, but that causes several
problems of its own, messes up pressure sensors, and I know from experience
that HEPA doesn't like to get wet.

I would go there and insist on seeing the machine. Regular filters changed at the required time should not make a machine so dirty as to be unrepairable. Make sure you are not considered at fault. Also it shouldn't have taken 4 weeks to find that out!

Thanks everyone! I go Thursday to get my new CPAP, I will call and tell them I want to see my old one. I can't understand why it took 4 weeks to find that out either!
