Software

Post by tvillelassie - I registered with this name. » Sat May 08, 2010 2:37 pm

This is my first post since joining this group.
How and where does one acquire software for a CPAP machine? How expensive are they? I've had my card read several times by my DME, which is another town. I continue to have frequent problems with leaks.

The last time my readings, from 2/2/2010 to 4/15/2010, showed:
Avg. 90% pressure - 8.9
Avg. CPAP pressure - 7.0
Avg. Non-responsive A/H Index - 0.3 Is this good?
Avg. Obstructed Airway Apnea Index -7.2
Avg. Hypopnea Index -2.6
Avg. AHI - 9.8
Avg. Flow Limitation Index - 0.8
Avg. Vibratory Snore Index - 32.6
Avg. Max Leak - 114.3
Avg. 90 % leak 75.5
Avg. Leak 52.4
Avg. Large Leak - 1 hr.11 min. 57 sec.

I have since gotten a new Medium seal for my F&P 431 which has allowed 7-8 hrs. of uninterupted sleep a few nights. I've also used the Small seal several nights with mixed results - frequent leaks that keep me from going back to sleep, even after ramping down. My AFlex is now set from 6-15 and the seal sometimes just loosens. I started therapy with a CPAP set to 12, but often gave up when I hadn't fallen asleep after several hours with it. I tried 5 masks before having any success, using the AFlex and 431.

It doesn't seem to me that I feel any more energetic since starting ( Nov. '08) CPAP than I did before using it, tho the doctor said I have rather severe apnea, and my husband had told me for years that I stopped breathing at night. I never felt particularly sleepy during the day, tho, and still don't.

My husband started using a CPAP several months ago, and he definitely is falling asleep less often during the day.

Would having my own software help me? Any insight would be appreciated.

You probably need software IF your machine is data capable. Please login and add your equipment in (TEXT) in your profile and someone can help you. Your therapy is not working well enough now, though.

As ww indicated, the machine you have is crucial - we can't tell you which software unless we know which machine. I assume you have an m series either aflex or cflex, however, please let us know what machine. If you can't find the right one on the list for your profile, indicate the words on the top of the machine and the model nu mber on the bottom of it. That would help.

As far as leak information goes, which mask are you using? Check the mask carefully and post what words are on the mask and headgear.

Reported average 90% pressure quite likely indicates a Respironics PAP. A-Flex would indicate that it is a Respironics APAP. Starting PAP therapy in November 2008 prevents us from determining whether a Respironics M Series Auto w/A-Flex or a PR SystemOne Auto which I believe has A-Flex also. The data being reported would indicate that it is a PR SystemOne Auto w/A-Flex. The mask being used is a Fisher & Paykel HC 431 with Medium and Small cushions being used or tried. Elementary deductions, dear ww and Jules, elementary.

From: tvillelassie - Thank you for your replies.
I thought the site would pick up my registration information that I previously had put in, but it didn't. It didn't even want to accept my <tvillelassie> ID because it said it was already registered and told me to choose another one, which was why I added the extra words. I haven't been able to locate the place to coordinate my info. Sorry I didn't input the info again in the post.

I am female, age 85, live in Illinois.

Machine: Remstar Auto M series AFlex
Mask: Fisher & Paykel 431 Flexifit Full Face;
also have the F&P 432 but found it less comfortable
Humidifier: Integrated heated - set at 3

Oviously, Sherlock Holmes I "ain't".

Click on Control Pane to the upper left of this page. Click on My Profile. Scroll down near the bottom of that page to enter your equipment info. "I think". My memory might not be any better than my powers of deduction!!
