has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
I am a newbie. Got my CPAP last Tuesday and haven't had a good nights sleep yet. I have a nasal mask and am a side-sleeper/stomach sleeper. The mask is in the way!!! I was wondering if the pillows made for CPAP users work.
Re: has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
I use a nasal mask and i use the regenesis pillow from pur-sleep, its a buckwheat hull pillow but i find it supports my head well and does not interfere with the mask at all.

I am an active sleeper... primarily side and prone... never back unless forced.alwanna wrote:I am a newbie. Got my CPAP last Tuesday and haven't had a good nights sleep yet. I have/ am using 4 types of pillows and have yet to discover there is a "right" one.
I use Buckwheat Hull;
Temper-Pedic Memory foam;
Full plump Feather/Down;
Flat/Loose Feather/Down;
They have all worked somewhat with different Nasal masks but if you are "very active"... you may want to try before you invest.
BTW: Both my wife and myself did NOT realize I move a lot while sleeping... not big amounts just the kind that induce mask leaks...

You have to experiment to find out what works and what doesn't work which usually means you are out more money. I have tried the foam pillow and the buckwheat hull and neither of them worked for me. That does not mean that it won't work for you. You have to experiment with what's out there and not be afraid to alter what you bought or invent something that will work for you. Also, if you try something and it doesn't work for you now it might work later so don't throw it away.

Another user of the Regenesis pillow from pur-sleep. I actually love it, it molds to whatever shape you need it to be.

Re: has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
I use the Regenesis buckwheat pillow. If you search around my posts, you'll hear me say I didn't like it. That has changed. I hated it at first. Too hard a surface to put my head on once I got it setup the way I wanted it. So I stopped using it. Then went back. Now I love it. Well, love might be a bit too strong, it's still hard, but I like it alot. For years, I've slept with my arm up under my head along with my pillow and would wake up alot to roll over when it started to hurt. Now, I can prop the Regenesis pillow up perfectly so that I no longer need my arm under there. No more pain! And I scoop out a well in the holes for my mask to fit into. It's working well for me now and I'm satisfied with it.
Good luck to you!
Good luck to you!
Re: has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
I use an $18-$20 memory foam pillow from WalMart and hang my mask off the edge. Been using it over a year and like it. The "fancy" ones look great, but this works for me.
Re: has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
Recently I stayed at a hotel that provides a temperpedic pillow, the square one. I slept like a baby with it. Only downside is cost = $99!
Re: has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
I am a side and stomach sleeper and have used both the Regenesis buckwheat pillow and the CPAP one. I find myself using the CPAP one more often (although not always), and both work better for me than a regular pillow. I should add though I use a Fitlife total face mask so whether my experiences would generalize to your situation is hard to say.

Re: has anyone used the CPAP bed pillows
I use a memory foam pillow with the small curve under my neck and a small buckwheat pillow on top of that. This combo works with my Hybrid mask. Had to take out about a third of the buckwheat hulls to get it comfy, though, that puppy was mighty firm when I got it! Keep experimenting (yes, that means spending money!) till you find what works for you. And be open to the unexpected--for years I'd slept on wonderfully squishy down pillows and nothing else seemed to allow my any rest with my orthopedic problems. The pillows didn't allow for the CPAP therapy, and the pain from my orthopedic stuff has lessened dramatically since I've been on the hose. I don't miss the down pillows at all!
