Online DME

Post by bigcat » Sun May 16, 2010 8:30 pm

I am looking for a new DME. I was with Gentiva, loved them, now they have been bought out by lincare. I would like to find someone online that would except BCBS and Medicare. BCBS is primary and Medicare is secondary because of my disability. I have been on cpap for over 7 years, currently have a M Series, with Aflex, so I don't need any support, just someone that will remind me it is time for a new mask and send it out quickly. My last mask took over a month to get and they sent the wrong mask.

I haven't been around in a long time so I have no idea about the insurance side. Any suggestions?

Lincare does a good job of milking every cent they can from INS and Medicare, I have supplies running out of my drawers. I they have now went to robot calling you monthly for supplies to make sure they have milked the system for the max profits. I am in the process of not ordering anything until I get the overflow used up. A lot of online DMEs only do cash sales, I don't blame them who would want the government in their business. not me. Jim

I don't get any calls, nothing. They have never called me. My mask is falling apart and I may be due for another if I could get a call back. I just wish I could find a company that would utilize my insurance so I could get a mask! I have insurance, rx, everything, just no one I can count on to sell me a mask...

It used to be poor here too, (INDIANA) they did call every three months for supplies, but weren't pushy, now they have went automated calling at 7 PM, with lists of stuff you can get. I don't like automated dialers anytime, less at night, so I have decided to ween them a little. With Lincare it was always a supprize, you would order one thing and get something completely different, and in opened packages too. Now it seems like they are doing a better job, kinda takes the fun out of opening the boxes. Jim

Are you aware that Cpap.com (not Cpaptalk) is the sponsor of this (Cpaptalk) forum? They have the largest selection of equipment and the best prices, so look at their website.

Are you aware that cpap.com doesn't process insurance claims?

Which is what the OP is specifically looking for...

I don't know about online DME's, but I've been using Active Healthcare in NC and I like them much better than Lincare (bad experience with them). I haven't been on CPAP too long, but they said that they ship all the supplies to your house for free, so theoretically if you just need replacement things you might be able to call them to order things and have them shipped to you without you having to actually go into their office.

LinkC , you are correct, that is what I am looking for in a dme. I am very aware of cpap.com and have bought many things from them through the years.

I just recently got married, so I picked up BCBS as primary from my wife and kept Medicare as secondary for my disability. I need both as I have a lot of health care bills, and it can be very complicated. I spend a lot of time on the phone gettings things worked out on how my claims should be filed. Medicare is normally primary unless you are under a certain age (I am) and on disabilty. So it gets confusing.

Thanks for those suggestions. I will look into these choices.

Liberty is going to take care of me. Thanks for the information!! I will soon have a new cushion every month and new mask every 6 months. I am now at month 10 with same mask and cushion. This will help a lot.
