AI and HI

Post by du_dragon » Sun May 09, 2010 4:04 pm

I have a Resmed S8 Autoset II. I'm looking at the AI and HI statistics and have a question. I'm trying to determine is my pressure is set correctly.

If the machine detects an apnea or hypopnea event and is able to keep your airway open (by increasing pressure), does it record the event or does it only record events when it is unable to prevent airway closure?

It should record apneas and what it considers aHI's I have the s8 Elite II . The s8 elite II from what i am told on average records higher than other machines because of the formula it uses to determine what it an AHI. I am sure our more seasoned folks here can give you a much better explanation of that. I would imagine the same holds true for your machine.

All machines only report the event that it was "unable to prevent", using your terminology.
