FP Face Mask versus Ultra Mirage - have u used both?

Post by NeurosurgeryNP » Mon Oct 24, 2005 6:45 pm

ANyone out there had experience with BOTH masks? I am currently using the Ultra Mirage and I like it, but I was just wondering if anyone had used both and which they peferred better. I am looking into trying it when my FF needs replacement, but I wanted to get people's ideas about both in comparison first. Thanks, Jen

Hi Jen, I have both masks (and some others!) I actually like both and rotate them. If I had to choose between them, I would go with the Ultra Mirage FF mask.

I think that the F&P FF mask needs a higher pressure (at least for me) than the Ultra Mirage FF.

If you are happy with the mask and it is not leaking and comfortable, I would say it's a keeper!

Good sleeping!

Hi. I have both masks too. I wear both, but I usually grab the F&P first.
The mirage feels lighter but I like the way the F & P fits my face better.
I"ll be honest, it could be that the F & P was my first FF mask and it is what I became accustomed to. As I said I wear the Mirage too and I have nothing bad to say about it, I give it a very close second place.

I have both and use them both I tend to lean towards the F&P first. The mirage sometimes give me a rash under my lip. I have switched to the Arua at the moment and like it alot.

I have both and am told that when I wear the FP mask, I snore. It seems to leak really bad. My pressure is 16 so it does blow out real easy, but even with it sealed, I still snore. My Ultra Mirage leaks unless I torque it down (I tried the "you should leave it loose" and it leaked like crazy), but I get a good night's sleep.

Guest, have you tried the shallow cushion for your Ultra Mirage FF mask instead of standard cushion -- or vice versa depending on which cushion you already have? Sometimes it's the cushion shape (shallow or standard) that can make a big difference in controlling leaks, even in the same size mask.
