Strange data with Resmed S9

Post by preemiern » Fri May 07, 2010 11:49 am

Hi--I have the Resmed S9 autoset. The last few days, I have been getting higher than usual AHI numbers, so have been downloading my data to see what's up. I will just use today as my example. On the S9 screen, I have a report of AHI 6.7. It says for my usage, 24 hours I only slept for 8 hours. I double checked to make sure I have it set for just one day's data rather than week or month. When I downloaded my data, I only have 5 events total recorded throughout the night, and when I look at the minute by minute flow data, it supports this, that I only had 5 events all night rather than what I would have had to get a number of 6.7 for my AHI.
This worries me. I paid for this machine myself out of pocket, ordered through here at CPAP.com. Anybody else experience anything like this? Suggestions?
Thanks for any help!!
Cindy

I have used the S9 for 2 months and view the Data on ResScan daily...
There are a few areas to double check the data including LCD screen; Patient Statistics and finally on the graphic screen.

How long have you been using the S9 ??
What resolution are you using for the screen viewer... 24hrs, 12hrs etc
Some Events can be behind one another on the graphics...
Do the AHI; AI; CAI; HI; Unknown add up etc ??

Try checking again before panicking.

Hmmmm.. with only five events, at 6.7 AHI, you should have gotten maybe 1.34 hours mask time.

Can you post some screen shots of what you're seeing in ResScan?

I'm not sure how to post screen shots...but the screen shots look fine...it's the data on the machine that is perplexing...for example, the reading that says I used my CPAP for the past 24 hours rather than the 8 hours I had used it. On the screenshot it shows the 8 hours I actually was on the machine.

So you're in the Clinical Menu, and are you looking at the 1 Day reading, and not the 1 Week reading?

On your software, what is the total usage hours? It seems odd that the lcd readings and software is not the same.

If this continues, call cpap.com.

I unplugged my machine last night. This morning, everything looked fine again.

- 24 hours is the cycle period in which the detailed data is collected. After 12 noon, you lose the prior day's detailed data and a new cycle starts.
- Mask time is mask time
- Total events = mask time times AHI or
- Mask time = Total events divided by AHI (as DD said)

You probably knew this, but just in case. Sounds like a temporary glitch. Good luck!
