Feeling discouraged
Feeling discouraged
I have been on my bi-pap machine for two months now. I did a pulse ox check for my doctor last week and got the results. Seems my pulse ox rate falls to around 80 during REM sleep so today I had to pick up an oxygen compressor and they lowered my pressure to 12 instead of 14. I am only going to be given 1 liter of oxygen but now I am saddled with this large, noisy compressor....it really depresses me as it makes me think I am going to be less mobile for trips ETC....Has anyone else been down this road and is there an easier way to travel with such restrictions?
Re: Feeling discouraged
What steps were taken before going to oxygen? I mean, did your machine data show your settings were therapeutic yet your oxygen still dropped? I would assume they verified that you didn't just need your settings tweaked to be effective, right?

Re: Feeling discouraged
Apparently the data showed that my oxygen dropped to low 80's during REM sleep....so they added the oxygen and tweaked the settings a bit. I was told that I was doing quite well with my therapy...that they were just adjusting a few things. My frustration is at having to deal with not only the bi-pap machine, but now this large compressor that I only need for a simple 1 liter of oxygen....it's quite large...too heavy for me to lift. Will this hamper my travel? Do they make something smaller? I guess I should clarify a bit...while our house is being sold, my husband and I have to live apart and I have to travel every other weekend to stay with him...he makes the trip on the alternate weekends. So now I have one more piece of equipment to deal with when I travel. Surely there must be something else I can use to make this easier. I understand if there is nothing else I can do...I just needed to whine a bit LOL!!!
Re: Feeling discouraged
I did the the weekend commute thing for a year (when my husband and I lived 150 miles apart). And with cpap therapy, that's alot to deal with at first. But but try looking at it this way... if this was your best friend who needed a compressor, you would happily lug the compressor back and forth, right?
Or could you look into renting a compressor, when you travel for the weekend?
