Help very Tired

Post by Tanna » Tue May 04, 2010 11:30 am

I am on my second week of cpap and I woke up in the middle of the night and my face was so hot I ripped off my mask, then woke up again about 1 hour later and put it back on. When I finally woke up for the day, I was exhausted, I could barely keep my eyes open to get ready for work, plus I ache all over. I certainly hope this gets better, but I don't see how.

Welcome to the forum.

It would be beneficial to all of us if you would fill out your equipment profile and tell us what machine, mask and pressure you are using. There are many possible answers and suggestions, so additional information is necessary.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time, please don't give up. It will get better. It can take a while to get used to everything and to find the best solutions for you. You may want to try some other masks and see if there is one that you like better. Keep reading the threads here. There are many good ideas for tweaking things to make it better.

Hi, I would suggest turning down (or off) the heat from your humidifier - it's only a comfort thing, not 'therapy' and if it's too hot, don't use it. Secondly, was your mask fitted carefully, with explanations about adjustment, etc., or was it just given to you? Thirdly, is it possible (as it is for very many of us, especially once on Cpap which blows air in unnaturally for newbies, that your mouth opens once you're asleep and you lose the Cpap air that way, rather than having it go down your airway? Unless someone watches you like a camera all night, it's unlikely you would know. You might want to consider getting a full face mask (Quattro, Ultra Mirage, Hybrid, etc. etc.) because it's a very big help to a lot of us.

It does sound like you have your humidifier set too high ?
