Need recommendarion for an oximeter

Post by tonytexas » Mon May 03, 2010 11:39 am

Can anyone please recommend a small portable or fingertip pulse Oximeter with software that I can buy?
I need a oximeter to measure my oxygen level since my average AHI stays up in the 9-10 range. I like to find out if my CPAP therapy is effective or not

Thanks. Tony

Dear Tony,

I have a CMS 50D+ pulse oximeter. I purchased it from http://www.semedical.com. Here is the link to it: http://www.semedicalsupply.com/cms-50d_plus.htm. Cost is $119.95. It includes the USB cable and software. It runs off of 2 AAA batteries and records all night long. I don't wear mine every night, but have worn it for 4 nights, recorded successfully and printed out reports. It's a reasonably priced item and I found that the oximeter did not bother my finger - not too loose, not too tight.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Jersey Girl

Hi Tony

There are lots of ways to measure the success of your therapy. You said your AHI is around 10...
How do you feel ?
What are your leaks ?
What is your H and CA like ?
Do you suspect your oxygen is low ?
Are you getting all the data from your S9 ?

On the other hand... theres no problem with having an oximeter and knowing your numbers. It may not have the answers you are looking for.

I am trying to get the CMS pulse oximeters at a little cheaper rate than what everyone else is charging. I have a listing on cpapauction for a CMS-50D+ for 88.00 plus 6.00 shipping. It is also on Craigslist Atlanta (no rx) or available on my website at http://www.coopermedicalsupplies.com. The price is 105.00 on the website though. I am trying to get a promo code for cpaptalk users to give them a discount, but havent gotten it in yet.

I use the CMS 50F also from SE medical supply site. I chose it because the finger clip is separate and easy to fix on the finger and it keeps its time so you don't have to reset the clock every time you turn it on. More expensive but I like it.

Add-on question - is a prescription needed for a pulse-oximeter?

I use CMS 60D

Most on-line sites don't require Rx....www.southeasternmedical.com didn't require one when I bought the CMS 60D model.
