Hi dede1953

I am sorry to read you are having such trouble. I will try to keep my suggestions simple, and please excuse me if you have already tried them.

Read carefully the mask fitting instructions.

Also check the internet for mask fitting,

Also search this forum, there is the worlds best instructions posted somewhere in here.

Wear the mask during the day, turn on your machine, and try all different combinations of strap tightness to see if you can get a fit without leaking. When you find one, lie down as you do at night and see if you can keep it in position.

Maybe get a better pillow. I use a feather pillow with my mask, which is the same as yours.

Consider buying a few different masks from cpapauction.com.

Julie knows what she is talking about, so I suggest you follow her suggestions.

Then post specific questions as you learn more during the day.

Bon Chance

dede, your English is better than my French but let me see if I can make a few points.

Mask leaks are the biggest problem we all face. Much has been posted here already if you can read in English.

Search for things Like "Quattro Leaks".
1st - Start for bed early enuff to get your mask adjusted.

Put your mask on loose at first. Turn air on full pressure (NO Ramp).

This will inflate the mask seal - gently tighten the straps evenly on each side.
Leave enough room for two fingers to fit between the straps and your head on each side.

Lay down with head on pillow the way you will sleep. If required snug the straps a bit more.

Just remember - Do NOT over tighten the straps - the mask seal needs room to inflate to work properly. Your face will change shape when you lay down and contact the pillow or when pressure ramps up.

Keep a notebook about each nite. Take time in the morning to write what went well and what did not. Make notes on what to try tonite (before you forget).

Good Luck

Gumby, I fit my husband's mask the same way you describe but just wondering, do you tighten each strap separately or both at the same time? I gently push down on one side of the mask and tighten that strap a bit, then do the other side.

I am also in Montreal. My French to write is not as good as your English but I can speak it. There are several of us on the board from Montreal.

I find the the fit of a full face mask can be difficult - they seem to be made for standard faces. I do have a quatro and I use it when I have a flu, it leaks but I just ignore the leaks, I jiggle it around a bit and it stops. Other wise I use a Hybrid which is fitting better on my round face (it is made of a nasal mask and a mouth mask).
Do keep trying - it will get better. just remind your self you did not get this bad in one week.

Lena

I wish i had the same kind of mask so i could offer some good advice. I am sure many others here can help you. Hang in there and stick with this group they will get you to where you need to be so you can rest. It may take some time and perhaps a few different tries on masks to find what works best for you. If you stick with it you will finally find the right equipment to use and will then get the rest you really need. I hope you feel better soon.
