Hi All,
I am a newbie and want to extend a big THANK YOU!
I have been lurking around this forum since being diagnosed last month. The most important thing you have taught me is don't give up. When I was first issued equipment, a Remstar M w/A-flex and the swift fx headgear, I suffered. I had painful breakouts around my nose and upper lip and was fighting to breathe against the machine. I didn't think this CPAP stuff was going to work for me. But, the forum taught me how to unlock/hack the machine and set the EPR, which really helped, but the therapy was still uncomfortable. Luckily I have a great RT in Canada that has a flat rate for Cpap equipment with a "Swap till you drop" policy. I have swapped, adjusted and tweaked and I think I finally made it.
On April 8, I got the Opus 360 and a Resmed S9, thanks to your reviews. No more breakouts. It amazes me how different "similar featured" machines can be. I haven't slept like this for years. No more daytime sleepiness. The fog seems to be lifting as well (I might have to change my screen name ).
Lessons learned from cpaptalk: 1) don't give up
2) therapy can be comfortable
3) find equipment that works for you
Thanks All!
Thanks All!
