FF Mask

Bradp,

I use the Mirage. I love it but haven't tried any others to compare it too. I still had some problems with leakage because my mouth dropped and broke the seal. I used the "Chin Up Strips" and they stopped it from happening. After some time the "CUS" retrained my jaw and I stopped mouth breathing.

Good Luck!

I also recommend Ultra Mirage Full Face but if you are mouth breathing you need to try a chin strap to keep your mouth closed while you sleep. Even if you use a full face mask you need to nose breathe if you can. If you don,t you will have a very dry tongue. even with a full face mask.
Good Luck

bradp, I have and recommend the Hans Rudolph.

I had the Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask, and it made all kinds of obscene noises.

You have to wear the head gear lose if to lose the mask sounds like a wind gush, to tight and it makes obscenen noises.

The Ultra Mirage and Mirage comes in small one size fits all , medium one size fits all and largeone size fits all.

The Hans Rudolph comes in Large, medium, small, extra small and petite.
There are other pieces you can purchase to customize the size of the mask you need.

The head gear is really neat for it is an open adjustable cap. Very comfortable.

There are strings for a quick release on the head gear, but I cut them off.

Good luck on making a decision as to which mask.

We can only tell you what works for us. You have to figure out what mask works for you.

I'll throw in my recommendation for the mask I am using. See link at the bottom of my post. It is the FlexiFit 431 full face mask. The thing I like the most about this mask is that it cups under my chin, so I don't really have to worry about the "jaw drop" once I fall asleep. It is pretty comfortable, though I wish they would put an adjuster from the nose to the forehead like the ComfortGel nasal mask. This mask is supposed to hold the higher pressures that alot of the other FF masks don't.

Hi Severeena,

Questions re the Hans Rudolph:

How long have you used it? Where did you get it? What were the two or three main reasons you needed to try/buy a Hans Rudolph? What other masks have you used before the Hans Rudolph? Have you tried the nasal Hans R. or did you go directly to the FF? And very importantly: did you have to heat and remold the HR? Did you have trouble getting a very good fit? Did you have to become a lab rat and make all sorts of adjustments to be able to use that mask to your satisfaction?

If this request is too much for this thread, would you please PM me. I am truly interested because of what I have read about the Hans Rudolph, and since I will continue using xpap at all costs, I will pay out of pocket for the "right " mask.

I use the Activa 99 percent of the time and am "satisfied" but I still am willing to try for a better fitting (and feeling) mask. I have also used the Respironics ProLite as the only other nasal mask. Have also tried the Snapp, Aura (need the XL pillows IF Aeiomed ever gets around to making one, Swift and one other that i now forget.

Severeena, I would very, very much appreciate your comments on the H.R.

Thank you for your help.

Regards, Andy

I'm using the ComfortFull...I'm having GREAT difficulty with it at the pressure of 12, but when the pressure's been lower, it works very well I'd say it depends on what your pressure is...

I'm kinda partial to the one I'm using (pictured below).
Seems to be pretty popular here.
Finding the right mask is a big key to making this therapy work.

The Ultra Mirage and Mirage comes in small one size fits all , medium one size fits all and large one size fits all.
They are one size but they all have different cushions sizes (standard and shallow) for different face types. I use the medium standard.

An interesting aside for me is that when I first put the mask on, I have to really concentrate as I breathe and try as I might, I still mouth breathe, but in the morning when I wake up I find myself with my mouth closed and that I'm nose breathing and I have to look at the machine to determine that it is even on! I guess I must acclimate to it at night - and maybe even to nose breathing???

I know some have complained about a dry mouth while mouth breathing but I have found the exact opposite since starting CPAP. I guess it might be because of the fact that I use the HH and because before CPAP I mouth breathed with room air - which in AZ has NO humidity whatsoever and my mouth was as dry as sandpaper each morning!

I guess there are many variables that we have in common with other CPAPers and many others that are unique to our own treatment and BOTH of these sets of variables need to be taken into account for each of us - individually.

FL Andy, I hqave been using the Hans Rudplph ever since May when I purchased it out of pocket.

The mask is very comfortable and it stays put all night,

My original CPAP the ResMed S7 Lightweight pressure was set at 12.

I now have the Petite and a ResMed Auto Spirit. My pressures are now running 10-11.8

The head is gear is what I find most comfortable after I cut off the head gear quick release cords.

I live in Wisconsin and got my mask through MetzMedical in Kenosha.

The web site for the Hans Rudolph is http://www.rudolphkc.com

You can also email them for information on the Hans Rudolph to be sent to you along with DMEs in your area. Email address is hri@rudolphkc.com

I hope this information will help anyone insterest in the mask.
