Best Auto Cpap with data deal?
Want to buy a new auto cpap to replace/backup my 8 yr old F & P 221cpap.
Looking for the best (lower price) option to provide auto and (basic) data so I can keep track of how I am going. Have to pay for it myself so looking for reasonably priced machine.
Have not used the humidifier for the last 5 years but it could be handy for travel to cooler climate. Needs to be portable and have 12v capability so I can use it on holidays in RV. I sleep comfortably with the old basic F&P and Breeze nasal pillow mask, so don't really need sophisticated aflex, cflex etc.
Those I am considering are :
Intellipap Auto Adjust (Travel?) DV54D
Respironics M Series Aflex or Cflec
Sandman Auto M114822US
Goodnight 420E (if still available)
Which of these do you think best meets my needs? ( auto/data/price)
Are there any others you would consider?
Do those with integrated humidifier have to have water in them if not needing to use the humidifier? Got sick of filling and cleaning the chamber, and in Queensland, Oz, rarely gets cold or low humidity at night.
Thanks

Re: Best Auto Cpap with data deal?
Hi,
I have recently purchased a Respirioncis PR1 Auto with Heated humidifier and have found it fantastic, Big upgrade from the big ole Remstar M series. I went for this auto as it had everything you are asking for. You can get a 12 volt lead for it, with out the humidifer it is no bigger than a box of tissues. In the menu you can see basic data like average 90% pressure over 7 and 30 days, complaince and apnea/hypopnea events, leakage etc. I believe you do have to have water in the humidifer if you are going to have it turned on, but being a qld'er myself I very rarely use it.
Have a look at the prices available over here and then look at medicaldepartmentstore dot com - Note its worthwhile emailing them for thier "best" price. After the currency conversion from USD to AUD and paying $50 odd for the shipping (Came from Florida toBrisbane in 1 week) I paid $880 for mine with the humidifer. About a $1000 saving to be had. Its all above board and as long as the transaction is under $1000 you dont pay to import tax.
Well worth a look.

Re: Best Auto Cpap with data deal?
I'm a goodknight 420E gal and I love it. The software is very easy to use (no special tricks needed), but a couple of points :
- humidifer is coupled to the machine but you can run the hose directly from the 420E and simply remove the humidifer
- heated humidifer requires its own power cable
- programmable from the LCD
- but no AHI data available from the LCD
- downloading is annoying sometimes as you have to move the computer to the machine or vice versa (no card/reader)
- no EPR, Flex, etc
- it's VERY small, but I guess so are the other newer machines
- it tracks central apneas, but the newer ones seem to do that too now
- you can set a maximum command on apnea so that it doesn't respond to apneas over X cm, to prevent centrals. (Can be set to any value)
- runs on 12V/13V, power adapater is reasonably sized and works on 110-220v 50/60Hz.
- you need a special hose with a sensing line, normal hoses won't work-
- no annoying blue lights
You can probably get one real cheap from cpapauction, as it's no longer offered from cpap.com. I got a backup 420E from the auction site (no humidifer or SW) for something like $150. You can still buy the humidifer and the software for the 420E from cpap.com I believe.
I can't say anything about the Sandman since I haven't looked into it yet.

Thanks Echo
The 420 E was high on my list, but I am having trouble locating one. Unfortunately CPAP Auction won't ship to Australia, so I am led to believe.
Not sure what you mean by special hose with sensing line, but I will look into it.

Try http://www.shipito.com/ for freight forwarding. Also as it is medical equipment, mark it as Medical Equipment - CPAP and it won't matter how much it costs, it will not attract duty or GST.

Re: Best Auto Cpap with data deal?
Bought my machine from secondwindcpap.com. It was supposed to be slightly used, but once I got it, it seem to be new. I paid for all my CPAP equipment out of pocket and was looking for the best at the lowest cost. Have been happy with the equipment and the service after the sale.
Mark, the owner, is a RT of over twenty years. Plus is a CPAP user. They sell new and slightly used equipment.

Re: Best Auto Cpap with data deal?
Thanks for the great information everyone.
Thanks for the heads up on Shipto BigK, I will look into that. They could be handy if there are any warranty issues too.
Was wondering about secondwind, good to hear they are ok to deal with.
Have just returned home this morning from my sleep study, went well. About 2 weeks for results and prescription. Technician thought the Respironics M Series with Cflex would be a good economical buy, with everything I need. He prefers cflex to aflex for my numbers. Can't remember now the details of the PR System One but will have a look at it.
Cheers

Re: Best Auto Cpap with data deal?
I don't know what the best deal is out there or not, but here's my recommendation: I've been using the PR S1 BiPAP machine and I've been happy with it so far.

Yeah KenD, Southside - The only place to be :0)
